Default Another EDiff issue, Vin #2282

So my car arrived this morning (Z51 Auto 2LT TR), I was so excited to finally take delivery. They started unloading it around noon but I had to go to a golf tourney and could't watch.
I was on my way back to the dealer around 5pm when the salesman said it failed PDI. Apparently during the test drive, they heard banging, buzzing, and hissing coming from the rear diff. They had already checked it for oil so that was not the issue. They talked with Detroit and their best guess is that it is the EDiff control module. They are sending one but I won't get my car until Monday now, assuming that is the problem. I'm very disappointed but I'm glad the dealer caught it before I took delivery and more damage was caused. The car has 13 miles on it was was just built on the 27th, and was never put on QC hold.

I know this is a new car and being one of the first to buy one means dealing with these kind of issues.

I'm still very excited and am confident that Chevy will make fixing my car a top priority.

One a happy note, here are some pics.

Sweet ride for sure.

If I owned stock in the company that supplied the E diff, I would be selling about now.

I am sure it will all work out though and wish you the best of luck

I understand the E diff is GM's design, but they may have contracted with another company to build it.

Hopefully that is the only issue you have.

Beautiful Vette. I hope you enjoy it.

Thanks for the nice comments.

Do you think there will be any long term issues from all the banging? I wasn't there to hear it like I said, but it seems that can't be good for the differential. I'm guessing one of the rear wheel speed sensors is off and the ediff thinks it is always slipping and thus locking the Ediff. I guess I'll find out more on Monday.

Hissing sounds from the ediff can be the normal key on purge of air in the hydraulics.
Not saying everything is fine, I haven't seen the car, but for what it's worth the e-diff cannot damage your rear end. Just FYI.

I've owned over 100 cars lifetime. While in the business I spent 8 years with Porsche and Audi back in the late 70's and into the 80's. Then several with Acura until I went back into the Navy. Altogether 20 years and saw some good factory backing on new models but the way GM is pulling all the stops to satisfy customers with severe issues is the best I've seen.

I'm sorry you're having your issues but glad you understand and know GM has got your back. Mine spent this week at 3400 so hopefully she'll go to 3800 rolling down the line next week and arrive ready to consume some dyno fuel . Same color as yours with an A6 and 2lt in Kalahari.

Good luck and hope to meet up with you on a caravan or at the museum some day.

It wasn't the control module that was "banging, buzzing, and hissing." It was the mechanical parts making the noise and that's never good. If that brings it back to normal, I'd closely monitor it and look for any unusual sounds that it makes. Worst case you end up with a warranty repair. Don't mod.

You have good taste! Mine is also 2LT Kalahari Auto. Sounds like our cars are identical!

Mine failed the PDI too. It needed a software update or reload for the EDIFF
All better now

It is so nice to see GM stepping up the game, as the C7 is just stunning. I can not wait for the next Z07 or whatever they call
it... just love the Blue... the Red is not so bad tho....

pookie i would ask dealer to do a software update or reload for the EDIFF first. That might work and you can have car today.
