Default Life Path to the C7 Corvette

Kid:
Fell in love with the C1 (1955-1962 versions) when I was very young. But the car was way out of range for my (and my parents') pocketbook

Youth:
Still couldn't afford one -- though I pined for a C2 -- during my college years

Adult:
Married, raised kids, bought a house -- had the money to buy a Corvette, but too many higher priorities

Adult Kid:
Children graduated from college, house paid for, so, with wife's permission, purchased my heart's desire: a Victory Red C6

Now:
Renewed spouse permission, so waiting to order the perfect C7, probably my final Corvette

What's your story?

Kid (Early 90's)- Seen C4's around all the time, loved the style, two of my uncles had C4's. Hooked.

Teenager-15 years old (Early 2000's)- Father bought C5 Z51 Convertible--learned to drive stick shift in it when I had my permit. Learned to drive in 3 hours and only drive stick shift cars to this day.

Late Teens/Going into College (2008-2011)- Father sold his C5 and bought C6 Z51 Convertible 3LT (Drove this occasionally with/without him)

Now, 24 years old, done with college, low student loan debt, working and living in NYC as my family lives in Virginia, had an E92 m3 that I sold to order the C7. Hope to have it by January from Kerbeck as I ordered the competition seats Next in line to carry the corvette torch!

Kid: Sat in a C2 vert, thought it was cool but so was any car without a roof.

Bigger kid: Rode a C3 vert, same reaction.

Teen: Never even thought about one; worked for a Mercedes dealer, loved the SL.

Early adult: Never wanted one.

Adult with one through college and one halfway through: rode in a friend's '66 427 vert; it was noisy, rough riding, impractical BUT intriguing.

Next week: test drove an '07 and '08; first time in a stick shift in 28 years, didn't stall once; accidentally mastered the 2nd gear start.

Next day: bought my '09 (to my wife's surprise)

Now: waiting for GM to catch up on production and constraints, then will order a 2015. So far, narrowed it down to a coupe or a vert and about 4 color choices. Definitely 7M and Z51.

It was 1963 and I was a Junior in High School when a rich Senior drove his dad's beautiful 1960 Corvette into the parking lot. I swore then that some day I would have a Corvette.
Worked and dreamed for years until I finished a major project at work and decided it was time. It was 1990 and I was 44 years old. I bought a used 1985 C4. It was gold and black and it was beautiful. I knew it would be the only Corvette I would ever have.
I was wrong.
I bought a used Silver 2004. I kept the 1985 and let my son drive it to high school.
Then I traded the 2005 for a Velocity Yellow C6. It was beautiful.
In 2010 fell in love with the Atomic Orange and started shopping. I found a 2008 owned by a private individual. I bought it thinking I would sell the 2005.
Now I owned three Corvettes. (1985, 2005, 2008) I tried to sell the 1985 and the 2005 but it wasn't working so my wife suggested I trade them for a new Corvette.
I found a dealer that would trade a new 2011 Velocity Yellow Grand Sport for my cars. It was a great deal and I still love my 2011 Grand Sport.
In 2013 I craved a C7 so I am trading my C6 for a Velocity Yellow Z51 C7.
It was built this week (VIN 1801) and I am getting Museum Delivery.
Back in 1963 I did not dream I would be this fortunate. It's a Wonderful Life.
