Where are you getting info that you can get $750 off for being a member? I asked my dealer and they said it's NOT so

I tried using the USAA Car Buying Service just last Saturday. My experience could not have been any different than the OP's.

1) The $750 voucher was no longer in the GM system, nor in the USAA system. This has been confirmed by one of the forum dealers.
2) The USAA price was NOT invoice. It was about $2000 below MSRP, and still $3000 above invoice. I don't see how the OP got the USAA system to give him invoice. Mine was not even close.
3) I selected three dealers that were in the USAA system. All got back to me right away, which was nice. The first said they had no allocation at all. The second said they were sold out, and selling at $5-10K above MSRP. The third said they were sold out, and selling at $15-20K above MSRP.

CO6,
I should say I get the $750 if it is offered when the car arrives. My order contract is written : Invoice with USAA incentive added TBA. If no incentive exists when the car arrives I am stuck with Invoice...

I'm jealous!! and I thought I got a good deal... LOL

I have a feeling that the dealer does not have to honor invoice. OP found a dealer that was willing to sell for invoice, for what reason, I don't know.

Hopefully it's not one of those deals where the enter your order but don't have allocation for a while.

I'm pretty sure there's more to the story, age isn't a reason by itself with them.
Clarifications:
It's not been reported in the news, it a personal story I shared on this forum.
It's a mentor of mine who I've come to know quite well - 82 looks 62.
He didn't start out with USAA thought he did initially apply and was turned down because at the time it was only for officer level veterans.
As a sergeant he didn't make the grade for admission.
Though USAA changed their policy over time, first to enlisted men and subsequent family members he was unaware of the change.
It was only after some years had past and he was in his eighties he called on USAA once again and was summarily denied.
He was one of three brothers in the war, whereas his eldest brother is a member of USAA, his youngest brother who was a Japanese prisoner of war and died shortly after coming home, and himself.
So much for saving private ryan.

Cruiter, sorry to hear about your loss, my condolences.

I would love to hear how this transaction transpired. Maybe I can learn a thing or two. So you went in with the USAA price, which is well above invoice, and they said, "Forget the USAA price. We'll give it to you at invoice."

How does this happen?

Totally a fluke. Wife and I were playing on the USAA web site building a C7. She grabbed the Ipad because I was being too slow and hit the dealer send button by accident. The next day we are getting called. We plan on buying a C7 in 2015, so I told the dealer kinda jokingly they would have to sell at invoice for me to add an uplanned car. This morning they call and say its a deal. I figure what the heck, a 2014 at invoice, I can't lose. So we have this on order, and I will order our 2015 from our regular dealer when the time arrives. My father in law wants one of our older Vettes so I will sell it to him and all is good in the world.

This is one of the funniest stories I have ever read on here.

I can't even find a car, and you bought one by accident at invoice. You're probably the one who puts one coin into the slot machine walking through the casino, and hits the jackpot, too.

Thanks for sharing.

You get what you pay for sometimes. I was just payed a claim by USAA for my C5 that a taxi sideswiped. The payment came before the work was completed and included my deductible which they will now go after his insurance company for. Thanks USAA. Loyalty begets loyalty.

Default If you qualify

USAA is a great insurance carrier. Top notch service and a price that can't be matched. An independent insurance guy had a table outside the DMV when I went to get a new tag. Wanted to do a price comparison. Told him I had USAA, he said you're a lucky guy. See ya'.

I think they're horrible (obviously that's a minority opinion around here). My wife has had them for 30 years, been hit twice and both repairs were nightmares with crappy customer service and pathetic body shop work. Why she stays with them is beyond me. I have a friend who was a motorcyclist hit by a USAA insured driver. USAA still hasn't paid yet on that medical claim either.

Since opening their business to others outside active duty / retirees, I've noticed a difference (for the worse) in their pricing and rates.
I had Allstate auto for over 30 years and Geico also cut mine by 50% with no change in coverage no lie.

Oh you would have been insane not to take it. You will be able to drive it a year and sell it and get your money back.

I'm not sure that the press would be interested. WW2 is pretty ancient history, now and most reporters don't really relate to this type of stuff.

As much as I love WW2 combat vets, 82 is pretty old to START insuring somebody. The incident that concerned me was when I was riding on the jumpseat of my airline and the captain turns around and says he just got dropped by USAA because, although he hadn't put in a claim for a very long time, he was due to do so. I can't verify this, but he said he was just putting that out as a warning to others.

I've been a member since 71 and have always had good service, myself.

I had originally been quoted a little over $800 (which was great) per year additional to add the C7 to my policy. Yesterday while discussing another matter with USAA, I checked to make sure the quote was still there. As I'll have two cars, I can drop the rental reimbursement and take my deductible to $1k (from $500) and add $300 and change to each 6 month premium. Gets better all the time .

I'm a USAA member. Rates are terrible on pretty much everything.

But I'd take that Invoice price all day long on the C7!
