I'm sure more tha a few of us are driving home from Dave or Rick's place in the new C7. How are you preparing to do it?. I have thought about a few options. This is not OCD, bugs that bake on can destroy/etch clear coat...
1. I don't like cloth bras as they scratch, but might use one for this one trip. I see in the configurator you can get one with the car, I wonder if they will be avail over the parts counter soon. (RZ2 - FRONT END COVER - BLACK)
2. Another option is what I do when I run thru the lovebug swarms here in Florida a couple times a year. It's a combination of 3M "safe release" painters tape and plastidip and works well. It comes right off after a day or two with no residue that needs anything but water to restore the perfect finish.
3. The third option is to give it couple costs of sealant and clean often as we drive home. Collinite 845 is great for this, the stuff is indestructible.
My tape up job:
and a full plastidip job that peels right off:

I'm thinking about doing Museum delivery, which would make for a nice, long drive home.
I think the Museum fully details and waxes the car prior to delivery, so if I go that route, the wax job should make getting the bugs off easier.
I'll just stay away from big trucks and stuff as best I can to avoid thrown stones.

I've got a 2,000 mile drive to get home from Atlantic City to Wyoming. Maybe I'll figure out how the radio works before I get back here! (I'm figuring on it being November or December, so I shouldn't have many bugs to deal with. (And hopefully no 'SNOW SNAKES' either!)

Trip Home
I have at least a 1200 trip from BG to Santa Fe. I plan to take back roads from BG to Tallahassee to allow the engine to run at variable speeds during the first 500 miles. Depending on timing, I will go from there to Disney World for a few days, then to Santa Fe (about 1800 miles) by the short, northerly (Amarillo) route. If this is around the first of the year (CF roof and CF dash ordered), then I may take the longer, southerly route through Houston and El Paso. In any case a lot of miles, but I am buying the car to drive it, not to preserve it in pristine condition. My "05 C6 had just under 70,000 miles when I traded it, a few chips, and a pitted windshield. Still looked great.

I have about 1300 miles to get back to Texas but am really looking forward to the drive and getting to know my new ride. I am also planning on hitting up the NCM and some other key points along the way. Since I will be staying overnight, I just ordered a car cover today which will hopefully provide some degree of protection when parked. Other than that, I plan on staying in safe areas along the way but protecting the front end seems like a good idea also...thanks for the idea!

Some people are getting my ideas here, thanks for the PM'S....glad to help....I hope the bra is avail soon. . Because of the slope and low nose, you will get lotsa crap on the car on a long drive, and it's not a plastic grill that will catch it, it's nose paint. Here's the tape if you want to use it, I'd replace the lower strips after every day's worth of running:

I am planning on getting a clear bra installed at the Museum before delivery. I plan to drive a circuitous route from Bowling Green back to either Montana or California, depending on when I actually get delivery (hoping for mid-October). Don't want to drive it in snow.

i'm driving 3k the first week, and wont use an inch of blue tape.
it's a car... **** happens.
i do think plastidip is a good idea however for those obsessed, better looking than blue tape.

I know there would be a nice rock on the Highway with my name on it. Live in the Chicago area and Stasek Chevrolet is 10 miles away.
