Ummm, no.

There is no lift (throttle) shifting, I believe, but no clutch-less shifting.

Once on a roll, you can shift most manual trans without a clutch with enough practice.

Don't think the intent of rev match is to forego the clutch, tho.

ahhh.... power shifting. I remember those days in my early Acura's (late 80's early 90's).
Look when you do it right, you can do it most of the time without ever hitting a gear.
most of the time.... there are some times when you miss- and then you KNOW you missed.
Its a good question here, altho I have ordered the slushbox for my vert, I would be curious to know how th rev matching impacts power shifting.
I guess I will have to rent a stick one time and try for myself.

If the 7's LC works like the ZR1 you can do NLS while in LC mode. I wouldn't ever do it, or powershift out of LC mode.

Rev matching is for downshifting.....no need for it when upshifting

Isn't the "practice" rev-matching? Talking about a no power up or down shift.

Yeah, you're just doing it manually. I had a car in college I got so used to rpm shift range by sound I could easily shift it without a clutch while on a roll. Obviously started out from a stop using the clutch.

I don't know whether the rev match feature on the 7 would aid doing that or not. Having not spoken to the engineers I don't know for a fact, but I suspect, it is not what they had in mind as the intent behind rev match feature.

Not sure what it would gain you in any event. Not like using the clutch is a burden. Plus it'd be faster and obviously safe to just use the clutch.

Yeah, what fun would "rowing" be if you aren't trying to orchestrate all of the choreographed movements? Isn't that the point of the manual in a sports car?

Yeah, plus the shifter is a great excuse to have your hand close to her leg. . . .

I'm thinking you can ease off the power to steady speed, pull the shift lever into neutral while there is no power thru the drive train, move the lever toward the next gear, the system rev-matches the engine speed to transmission speed and you should be able to just glide it into the next gear.

This might be something you do in traffic or just moving with slow traffic.

We'll soon find out.

kind of a dumb position for the on/off switch.

And I wish everyone a happy and wonderful weekend, lots of hugs and joy, puppies and kittens.

Need an option for a sequential shifter with straight cut gears. No clutching required except for startup and reverse.

I would assume the rev matching takes an input from the clutch pedal also. If you don't depress the clutch the feature probably won't work. I think it has to see more than just movement of the shifter.

I was wondering the same thing. I am able to do clutch-less shifting on my 350Z decently, but on my GTI, with pretty terrible throttle response, it is much more difficult.

I would bet the rev matching requires some kind of clutch actuation, but maybe if you are shifting very quickly and let the clutch out too soon, the rev matching will be good enough to prevent grinding the gears.

Will be interesting to experiment.
