Default Porsche Beats The C7!!!

Well, it's official: Porsche has beaten the latest C7 'Ring times. So, all new C7 owners will just have to trade them in and get one.

Here's the full article but note the last line. The writer saved the best for last: remember that it's still affordable:

"The optional Weissach package costs $84,000 bringing the 918 Spyder’s price up to $929,000."

Apples and Oranges !!!

Maybe a GM/Pratt & Miller C7-R would be a fairer comparision with a Porsche 918. Even then, that 918 is a serious machine.

Hmmm... 15 C7s or one 918? If I was in the market to spend $1MM on cars, I think I would take a C7 and a 458 and a 991 911 turbo and pocket the difference

Oh God, don't let Colorado C6 know! I'm sure he'll be touting this as proof of his Cayman's "superiority" over the C7. He'll probably tell us the 918 has carpet in the trunk or something..........

Unless you're gonna take your C7 to Germany, it's irrelevant.

What % reduction in 'Ring times do you get for an additional 1600% cost (once taxes are added)?

And will this added performance allow me get to Sonic before the half price shake deal ends most nights as I seem to usually miss it when I drive there in my pickup?

For the upcoming C7 Nurburgring report:

The optional TwoVette package costs $65,000 bringing the Stingray’s price up to $130,000.00.

Throw an air conditioner and a radio into a C7R and slap a $900k price tag on it. I'll bet the added weight could be offset by removing the ALMS penalties.

i would love to have a 918, but after buying a couple of veryrons as daily drivers, an extra one for when i have to have the other serviced, and a unimog for when i have to make runs to home depot to pick up some tools, i just cant afford one.

I dont know for certain, but the fastest Porsches are usually mid engined like the cayman and boxster

Edit, it is in fact a mid engine car so it is NOT of 911 heritage, but Boxster/Cayman They are imo vastly superior handling cars. Porsche wont put big motors in them cause they would make the 911 obscure

Not from Boxster/Cayman heritage, but from earlier heritage. Porsche raced mid-engine sports car long before the Boxster/Cayman were produced.

Porsche 917

And this mid-engine race car...the 911 GT1

I've been up close to a 917...beauuuuutiful car. But my wife's Cayman is far from this car. 918 on the other hand.

The biggest misnomer from Porsche enthusiasts is that the 911 platform is the best car Porsche can make. As you can see, that is not the case. If Porsche offered a true GT3 package in a Cayman, the 911 could not match it, simple as that.
