I did. It is great dealing with a real enthusiast. We did a FaceTime call, I sent him additional pics. He flew in with a certified check and drove the car home. A few newly joined tire kickers with odd questions, but for the most part, a great experience

I sold my '17 C7 GS vert at asking price within four hours of listing it. The purchaser had wired funds into my wire receiving account the same day and sent a hauler to pick it up 3 days latter (Va to TX). Don't know how it could have been any simpler.

Back in 2008 I sold my ‘00 to a forum member from AZ. She sent me a deposit on the car then flew into Kansas City with cash for the purchase.very smooth transaction.

I bought my 19 GS from a forum member. I live in NM he lives in CA. After price was negotiated, we set a date to meet, We met at a bank in CA where the bank wrote him a check. He took my rental car and I took the vette and we both returned home, my ride home was fantastic. Couldn't have been easier. Also, made a friend in the process.

I sold my 69 L46 4 speed roadster on the forum. Fortunately, the buyer only lived 3 hours away so the whole deal was relatively easy. The buyer and his wife drove to our house, he test drove the car with me in the passenger seat and when we got back to the house he gave me a $5,000.00 cash down payment and asked if I could deliver the car the next week. I said sure because our daughter lives in the same town. My wife followed me and we met them at their bank and received a cashier's check for the balance. I drove the car to his house, handed him the title and the keys and off we went.

I sold my 17 Z06 here. The guy purchased it from Virginia. I’m in Oregon. He had it picked up by a transport truck after the check cleared. Very easy transaction.

Are there state taxes nvolved in these transactions? If so who pays them?

I would think that would depend on the state. I haven't bought a used car out of state, but I have bought a few new cars in TN and I am in GA, I didn't have to pay tax in TN but did have to in GA.

Bought my 2018 from a forum member in 2021. Both of us were Corvette lovers and senior citizens. He was only 30 miles away. Went out for about an hour drive and confirmed the deal at the asking price. Paid cash a few days later. The car only had 8K miles on it, and I have put on another 10K.

The biggest issue the purchaser and seller have is with the form of payment. Having a certified check may sound like a great deal especially when nobody wants to carry large amounts of cash with them as it is legally subject to confiscation by LEOs. However, certified checks only certify there is sufficient cash in the account to honor them when the check is printed. There have been some classic car owners that have been defrauded by accepting certified checks on a weekend and then finding out on Monday morning the check is no good. The way the purchaser of my C5 Corvette and I worked it out was through my credit union. He was from out of state and I picked him up from the airport with the car and let him drive it back to my house. After he went over the car in detail we went to my Credit Union where I asked the manager to handle the certified check. The manage made a phone call to the purchaser's bank, came out of his office and said the money was in my account and handed the check back to the purchaser. The manager witnessed both of us signing a bill of sale and the title and the new owner was on his way with his car,

Bank wire transfer is the easiest and safest way to receive funds. I have the purchaser wire the funds to an account that I only use for receiving wire transfers. I verify on-line that funds have hit my account, then immediately transfer them to my regular account.
As Bill states certified / cashier's checks can be risky. The below looks legit right? Well it was from a robbery where thieves stole 200 blanks checks. Glad I checked it out prior to car being picked up.

Sold my A&A C5, Z06 on here to a member in Fla. Deal made, he transferred funds from his bank to mine in IL. Funds received, car was then sent to Fla by transport. Nice n easy……
