That Z06 was an '11 on PS2s. The '12 Z06 on Cup tires would've annhilated that time.
Anyway, I see people seem to be missing that the Corvette actually was the faster car around the track and instead are focusing on the accleration numbers which are obviously thrown off as the GT-R and Viper were also very slow comparede to other times.
But continue with your whining, I think this is a low 7:30 car at the Nurburgring now.

+1 on everything you said.

Anyone can see that the C7 body roll is greater in both the slalom and skid pad. The GTR remains mostly level while the C7 body movement is quite apparent. And even in the braking where the C7 does excel the nose dips very hard and the back end comes up quite a bit, almost as if there is a proportioning valve that is over adjusted to the front. Maybe these are just characteristics of the car which if it helps the car maximize its ability that's great, but you can't deny the difference between the two. I wonder what IB would have to say about this!
It still sways like a C6..but at least it beat the GT-R on the track...same day...same driver. That's a good thing right?

A spring is a spring is a spring is a spring. Leafs are no different than coil overs for the task at hand. And they certainly don't negatively or positively impact the body roll of the vehicle.
The spring rate might. The same spring rate could be had in a set of coil overs.
Also, putting Pfadts or anyone's coil overs on that car would absolutely destroy it. Removing the MSRC from the picture would completely disable several of the fantastic technologies that the Z51 car comes with.

Okay, so they got abetter lap time out of the C7, impressive. I will eat a little bit of crow on that one.............but as viprklr said, the GTR has had a significantly better showing on that track. When the C7 can repeatedly beat it on a given track, I will admit defeat there.

Burning Brakes
I would be very happy with either vehicle.

*sigh* Do we have to do this again?

I'll admit I didn't read that part, just watched the vid which I don't think included the lap time, for whatever reason.

Just to clarify, I still mean the stock versions of each car. If the C7 consistently posts better lap times on this track I will admit I am way off base. However, if this is the one crap time that the GTR posts that is slower than the C7........well I will say then that the GTR will beat it 9.5 times out of ten.

A few magazines have been struggling to get a normal 0-60 .
How on earth does a vette with 460/460 struggle with 5 sec 0-60 on a bad day.
My buddy in his POS 2.0 A4 weighting 3660 247whp /260trq ran 5.12 0-60 in 4000DA .
I think the added weight on C7 is hurting more than we think. The c7 will get its *** handed to it on the street stop light to stop light.

C7 won on the track.... That is the only thing that matters here guys.
C7 time: 1:24.6
GTR track edition: 1:25.2
Flame suit off, because this ends the thread. GREAT job corvette team for a car that's HALF the price, and performs better, and I think looks better.

Not at all. I just feel 113-117 is not adding up to the previous Vettes HP.

Stoplight to stoplight street racing is idiotic, and is going to come down to driver skill more than anything in nearly anything except a GT-R, which just about anybody can drive.
But yeah...I think it's funny that you didn't comment that the GT-R was 4-5 mph slower than most other tests out there but the C7 was.

Buhma I think JVP is right, I wasn't sure you speaking in jest either but thanks for clearing that up! To JVP's point I still wonder that with all the great technology they couldn't fix the obvious travel, maybe as stated change the spring rate. We all know that spring rate has the most influnece when it comes to handling so the question is why not change the load accordingly? As good as the cars handling is I can only imagine it getting better if the car did not roll so much.

The base Vette beat the allmighty Godzilla @ it's own game. Randomly picking videos from Youtube just to back your agenda makes you look weak.

You have got to be kidding me with this. Several "tests" had sub-4.0 second 0-60 runs (as if 0-60 is even a relevant metric in 2013), Edmunds ran 12.0 and Hot Rod ran 12.2 (which they stated corrected to 12.1 at over 119 mph). That's absolutely quicker and faster than any mag tests of C6's (excluding Z-variants). But let's focus on the one where they put up a slow 0-60 run.

I believe it was 124mph? Well I guess that's acceptable for a car with 640hp/600tq.

Would that be an AWD car with turbochargers? The C7 in that video was launched from a concrete surface, which is probably not very grippy.

I thought the electronic magic that the GT-R had was supposed to make "any monkey" (as they say in the video) a track star? I guess the balance of the C7 Stingray trumps all that electronic goodness of the Nissan.
Don't get me wrong...I LOVE the GT-R, but I am impressed the C7 (the base mind you...not the Z07) did so well against the Track Edition GT-R - imagine what the Stingray would do to the lower model GT-R.
Also this Edmunds test was fair IMHO....all these cars (Viper, GT-R, and more to come) were tested by same driver on same day. Can't argue with the results saying....well on a different day with a better driver...the GT-R did this....and the Viper did that....etc. I distinctly remember reading here on the forums that the awesome C7 track times were not valid because they weren't done by the same driver at the same time as other sports cars at that track. If that's the case..what we have here is a great showcase of how great the C7 is shaping up to be.
Go 'Merica!
