Just curious. Are you guys really going to use this? I'm probably the slowest driver on here but if I wanted a 4 cylinder car, I'd buy a Hyundai.

I think it's a great idea. Who cares if it's running on 4 or 8 cylinders cruising down the hwy at 70 all day long?

Would you rather it not be there and pay the gas guzzler tax?

Fartin' down the highway... why not? I rather enjoyed my MPG numbers on my old 93 vette. I would get 27.7 consistently on the highway going fast. If I crept along at 65 I could do over 30 consistently.

Yes... road trips and daily driving to/from work on the highway. On any kind of pleasure drive it will be turned off.

Long highway trip/road trip, why not. It'll do 75+ in ECO mode. If I'm just cruising along in traffic, might as well maximize my fuel dollar. I think of it as green credits for when I'm playing on the track or back roads.

Merging onto highways...getting around slow cars...your use to being able to punch it a little...4 cylinders won't get er done lol. I'll try it and see, but my guess is I will spend a lot of my time in Tour Mode

Well if you have a 7 Speed you have to select ECO mode to have the function, with a Automatic it will run on 4 if in Weather, ECO or Tour if conditions are right. It will switch back to v8 in .15 sec if needed so it will get er done.

Why not get some fuel economy when on a road trip, I have been in a few GMC & Chevy trucks with this feature and it is seemless.

PS: I have a 13 Hyundai "Genesis Coupe 3.8 348Hp 8 Sp, only problem is the Corvette will get better milage than the Genesis.

I guess you don't understand that as soon as you roll into the throttle it'll turn off DOD and go to V8 mode instantly?

This is a NON issue.

This car is so superbly engineered, that we'll hardly notice the 4 cylinder mode. We have a 2011 Tahoe, and the 5.3 engine goes in and out of 4 cylinder mode all of the time. It has NEVER failed to give us the punch we need to pass or speed up. But, on the turnpike, at a steady 75 MPH using cruise control, this behemoth gets 23 MPG using the 4 cylinder mode.

Truth is, even in ECO mode, around town when shifting between gears, the engine will remain at 8 cylinder full power.

Fret not........saving a little gas is not a penalty - it's a benefit.

It sure beats paying a gas guzzler tax !!!

I'm still a little fuzzy on all the default settings, but I think that in ECO mode the NPP flaps stay closed, keeping the exhaust a little quieter. If this is correct, I might use it when coming and going on my little suburban cul-de-sac so I don't annoy the neighbors.

I would say "Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong" - But this is the C7 Forum, so that would just be redundant.

I'd be surprised if ECO mode was the only one where the NPP was closed. but like you, I could be wrong, and will be corrected.

Don't figure I'll use it much, but it is nice that it will be there if I need it!

As previously mentioned, I will appreciate the lack of a gas guzzler tax, as a result.

I definitely would use eco mode for highway travels over long distances...

I'm just glad we can shut it off whenever we like...

That's awesome to see GM have the guts to offer this set up the way it is..

Well said. I completely agree.

I will absolutely use Eco mode. No reason not to. As I understand it, the transition from 4 cylinders is pretty much transparent. Get on the gas and you get all 8 cylinders. When in Eco mode, it will only activate cylinder deactivation at lower RPM's so the way I figure it, choosing a lower gear is all it will take to run on 8 under most circumstances.

I put 10,000 - 12,000 miles a year on my vette and if I can save some money on gas, I'm all for it. I tend to watch my right foot anyway due to all the LEO's around here so I will certainly be able to see appreciable value in that mode and when I want to get on it or hit the canyon, a push of a button or my right foot is all it will take to wake it up.

Absolutely, especially cruising down the highway. Most will be bragging about their gas mileage.

I will as long as it works better than the Camaro SS Eco mode. The one on the SS is terrible. There is a lot of low frequency drone, and vibration through the floor. I would imagine the Corvette implementation is better. I don't know why the Camaro is so bad, when the Challenger version is so good. In the Challenger, it almost sounds like a V8 above 60 mph, and there is no vibration at all.
