Default Question . . . driving gloves . . .

Story: Back in 2000 I purchased one of the first PT Cruiser. The first week I was driving my new red PT and came to an intersection at a traffic light and stopped for the red light.

Pulling up next to me was a nice looking Corvette and when I looked over the driver of putting on a pair of driving gloves. Impressive I thought.

As he was putting the gloves on -- I held up both my hands to him with No Gloves. He smiled back and laughed. I did the same.

The light went green and we both just drove off.

Question -- now that I have ordered my new 2014 Corvette (red/red), I guess I must think about some new driving gloves . . .

Just what do I need to be thinking here?

Kind? Quality? Color? Etc . . . I am sure some of you have opinions.

VERY RARE for Corvette drivers on the street. VERY RARE.

For the street, I'm not sure why people actually wear driving gloves.

He had NO goggles, no scarf, no pipe . . . and as I remember, they were tight fitting gloves. Probably hand stitched and high quality leather.

Probably VERY true. And he looked like a complete doofus is what we are all trying to say to you.

OK, serious answer. I have a few customers that use them, but very few. If they know they are going out for some "spirited" driving or maybe for a track day. However, for out on the streets it's not seen much since eighties...

Can this get nominated to Best of Corvette Forum somewhere? I'm searching and can't find anywhere to submit it.

Gee, I thought maybe that is what set Vett drivers apart. This guy, back in 2000, looked very serious as he was putting on his gloves. Really, I thought it was a nice touch . . .

And you know, he probably washed his hands prior to getting in his car.

Are driving gloves supposed to help those who can't seem to hang on to the wheel? I didn't know this was an issue? Come January and February in the midwest somewhere, I could see it.

The overwhelming majority of people here would consider him a pretentious poser.

Having made that crystal clear, you don't want to just argue for argument's own sake do you?

Did you resolve this issue?

"Say, can I get my wife's rolling walker, all folded up in that cargo space?

Yeah, I know, this car is only for 2 people and 1 zipped up body bag in the cargo space. But . . . can one folded up rolling walker fit back there?"
