Porsche 918, probably the baddest Hybrid sportscar out there.

"Actually, don’t laugh," Reuss said with a telling smile. Using an energy recapturing system like that found on hypercars such as Ferrari’s LaFerrari or McLaren’s P1 — both hybrids — presents many advantages.
"I think it’s a very attractive idea, actually," Reuss said. "I think it would be really fun to do, I think it would build capability inside our company and I think people would love it."
I wonder if this is his euphamism for "We've already got the prototype working."
Really, that's it? Is that worldwide or just for the US. I don't see how they could recoup their development costs at $140k/ea. Lexus took a bath on the LFA and that was starting at $375k for 500 units.
bmanahan, that would be a cool implementation. GM could have the Eco mode as default to score highly on EPA tests, with the front electric motor helping out with 4-cylinder mode in the city, and it could even be a combination of electric + 2-cylinder at highway cruise.

Well Well. I have been preaching for months about the high performance BMW i8 and the Acura NSX. Bottom line is these two cars sell for about the same as a ZR1. This is exactly why you folks have a C6.5 on your hands and it will be a long time before Corvette catches up.
Ya gotta wonder if this guy even realizes what he says sometimes........

C7 should have been a hybrid from a start. It was a wrong direction of GM to go with LT1 engine that has AFM, DI, and VVT to gain a few mpg on a highway side. Corvette always gotten good highway mph. The city mpg is a different story. Neither AFM nor VVT helps with city mpg. Instead of AFM and VVT, there should have been smaller engine for the rear drive + battery / electric motor for front wheels. Get rid of accessory belt, go to electric AC + water pump, put in smaller gas tank, etc. Now that would have been some forward thinking. I am not buying C7 until it is hybrid.

Seriously hideous rear view mirrors. I am sure cameras in each front fender could be used and appear on a screen in the car......but hey what do you expect to get for a million dollar plus car!!

Funny you say that, I just thought about that myself but I'm guessing this is a pre-production so it will probably jet out the back just like a 911x.

Well, here's what I said on Jalopnik in response to the statement:
"I'm down with a hybrid Corvette. It would finally allow it to have that AWD capability many have been clamoring for, and without sacrificing RWD fun if that's what GM chooses. Also no more whiners about the lack of DCT, because there won't be a transmission to worry about shifting at all.
However, in return for my support I want turbines. I love turbines. I will call the engine the Turbofire. In Corvette we will call it Turbofire II because it will have two to support the juice requirements. All the Chevrolets shall be turbine hybrids. We can sell them all with Turbofire-branding and get people drooling over hot-hatches and sedans literally sharing the same engine as the Corvette.
Sssh, I can dream! D:
P.S. Engine must remain up front. Engine behind the driver = not a Corvette, concept cars be damned."
