Default Are roof panels available in case you change your mind later?

Say you bought the car with the transparent roof panel, and several months later decided it was too hot and wanted the regular one with paint to match the body. Are you:

out of luck entirely?

going to have to live with mismatched paint color?

going to have to buy it unpainted and have it painted locally?

going to get killed on the price?

going to have to find someone who wants to trade?

The price on the roofs is considerably higher than if you just order it that way to begin with.

I think from a stand point of trading the roof or selling the roof, the transparent roof is the worse option to put on the car.

You can get a new transparent roof for some $1300 straight out from a dealer. When you order it on the car, it's $999 and you don't get your painted top.

With that said, someone might swap you even. If it were me, I'd want cash and your transparent roof to make a swap as the painted roof is harder to find and purchase.

I've seen prices in other threads. Transparent top about $1600 new. (Some used are available for less but get snapped up quickly.)
New carbon fiber top over $4500 plus painting(?) and difficult to find used with the correct color. I've not seen any prices on the painted roof but I bet it is in the $3000s plus painting.

I would love to trade my LRG Carbon Fiber top for a transparent top and a LRG painted top (Same MSRP new).

In my case, I wanted the painted top, I think it makes the car look better. But, do to constraints, I cannot get it. I am stuck with the smoke one. Best I can hope for is the painted ones becomes available before my car gets built.

You can greatly reduce the heat problem by getting an interior cover.

Going to be tough with a LRG being a one year color! Good luck!

Your best bet is to get a Visible Carbon Fiber roof and trade it for a painted one plus $1,900. That way you get all your money back like nothing happened.

Vendors on the forum have them at discount prices. I ordered the painted roof due constraints on the dual roof package. Ordered a new transparent roof from a forum vendor.

I found my CF on a big auction site from a salvage yard in Ohio. Paid $1500 shipped LTL. It arrived in perfect condition within a week. They bubble-wrap packed it in a double-wall box, built a crate around the box and strapped the whole thing vertically to a pallet, obviously to make it impossible to load anything on top of it. I think the weight of the CF top is around 16 lbs. Bill of lading for this shipment said 126 lbs! I just wish that I'd had the presence of mind to take a picture of the darned thing! A friend of mine that has a body shop painted it Torch (from Blade Silver), and matched my car perfectly.

I've seen only couple of CF's available since. Glad I grabbed this one when I did.

Good luck and good hunting!

The bottom line is that if you think there's a chance that you'll ever want the painted roof panel, the best thing to do is order the car with it at a cost of $0.00. If you try to do it after the fact (new) you'll pay thousands for it, plus whatever you spent for the one that originally came with the car. It totally sucks that some people who want the standard painted panel can't get it due to the constraint.
