People who buy sports cars (including me) clearly don't do it for the gas mileage. They're clearly toys for our own amusement.

It's just an interesting exercise to see what kind of mileage you can get when you keep your foot out of it.

That being said, it really is fun to bag on the Prius drivers at work - justified or not.

I'm kind of curious now that I'm seeing this mileage.Im anxious to see what the Z06 will be getting with the 8 speed automatic.

I am expecting improvement on the next trip when I try the E mode..
Even though mpg is pretty far from my mind while waiting for my 2015, that still is very impressive. Once the purchase $ are spent, A 3,000 mile cross country at 34mpg vs. 30 mpg at $4.00/gallon = $48 savings. Half of a Best Western.

This will be in Stingray's stablemate, a 2013 Volt

I won't have to worry about the Vette's gas mileage nor will I be attempting any fuel mileage runs in the Vette as there is a better tool in the shed to do that.

This was recorded on I-55 in Southern Illinois on fairly level highway with the cruise set @65mph. I recorded many 25 & 50 mile segments in the 40+mpg range on a 4000 mile trip with my wife. Lots of luggage and the AC was on for the whole trip. I averaged 32.6mpg for the whole trip which included a lot of heavy traffic in Atlanta, Chattanooga, and Nashville as well as a lot of local driving. I am amazed at the fuel economy of this car! No hyper-miling!

Precisely - for small snapshots of total accumulated mileage on the car.
