Default How many different C7 Corvette models will there be?

Is GM eventually going to offer a Corvette for everyone? Do you think they will really offer a new entry level base "Coupe"?

GM badged the first C7 as a Stingray. Earlier in the year rumors from Motor Trend claim there will be a lower powered, entry level Corvette "Coupe" with a 5.3L V8. They also claim there will be higher performance Z06 and ZR1 models in the next couple of years. Will there be at least 4 different models for coupes? Then there will be the convertible models.

Nobody really knows. I doubt there will be any lower powered entry level Corvette. Not with the same body and frame, IMHO. Could come out with a Solstice/Sky type car to compete with the Miata crowd, I suppose.

If that were to happen, the car would never wear the Corvette flags IMO. I see the Chevy Code 130R concept being the only thing that would come close to replacing the Solstice/Sky (if you want to call it a replacement). It might be built to run as a cheaper alternative to a BMW 1 series or Mini or as a direct competitor to say a Fiat 500 or a Hyundai Crapbox.

Well, they appear to testing the waters for some sort of smaller performance car. The Code 130 looks like a mini-Camaro...can you imagine that one with the LT-based six bang turbo?

I wishing for 575 hp on a Z06 base price of 78,500. Maybe a variant like a GS a year later, with some body work. Don't think they will go ZR1. Economy may hold up new models. If the C7 sells well I wouldn't expect much for a couple of years.

I think they might want to differentiate the C7 from older models and use some new monikers like SS, GT, ...............

Stingray SS

Stingray GTR

look for just 2 models. The base and then HP. The reason was stated several times by GM folks. The C7 will have a shorten span than C6 and C5. The C6 went 9 years but only was to be 5 or 6 at the most. Tadge said on many occasions C7 will probably be a 5 year run. The only reason GS came out was that GM went into a BK and so with no money to do anything they gave a base vette the Z51 package, wider tires and wide body. No need to have 5 models this time around with a shorter production run.

The Z51 is an option NOT a model.

They are not models. Models in the C6 were base (vert or coupe), GS, Z06, ZR1, 427

5 models total.

Are we talking about a C6 or a C7 in the C7 forum?

1YY07 Corvette Stingray Coupe
1YX07 Corvette Stingray Coupe w/ Z51
1YY67 Corvette Stingray Conv
1YX67 Corvette Stingray Conv w/ Z51

So I was actually wrong, there are 4 Models already available

Yes, GM Actually considers them Models.

I think they'll do an L88 package.

Z06 is kind of warn out after having been on the market for two heavily publicized generations, and I just think everyone expects them to do it, so they won't. Same play as waiting till the refresh of the 5th gen Camaro to give everyone the Z28. We might see it, but I think it will be later, and I personally think they'll save it till C8.

I do think they'll do a turbo V6 or something to that effect. Stingrays will probably get a bump to right around 485-495hp around that same time and then I think the L88 will debut. Hopefully a revised 427 motor and a very track oriented setup like the new Z28 and following in the L88 footsteps. 575-595 HP and they'll debut a dual clutch transmission which will eclipse ZR1 0-60 times.

I honestly think C7 will be a relatively short run, probably 5 years.
