Default C7 Convertible. I am now at $75000 Should I wait on a z06 or zr1

Hello,

Ok

I plan on getting

yellow convertible
magnetic ride control
dual mode exhaust
2lt
z51
chrome wheels
yellow calipers.

That's around 72000 with tag/title tax brings it up to $75000

How much do the zo6 and zr1s prices start at?

I know they don't have them this year, but they prob will next. Should I wait?

Am I spending too much money?

The C6 Z06 started at about $76K, and the C6 ZR1 started at about $113K.

No one knows what the future C7 hi-perf. model will be called or its specs, but doubt you'll be saving money...

Geezus'! I did not know the base car was that much! I would wait for the prices to tumble as they always do. I bought my loaded 3LZ Z06 in '11 for 73k and it stickered at 87k. So now u know how insane that price is and what a huge kick in the groin u will get as soon as u take delivery...

Why would you wait for a Z or a Z ? Unless you think either one will have a convertible, which I doubt. If it's just dollars, that's another matter. Is it all out/highest Corvette performance, or convertible that is important to you?

Dean, I would buy the Z51 vert.

As you are getting a vert. I assume you will not be tracking the car.

The Z51 will be more fun to drive on the street than a Z06 or ZR1.

Buy the Z51 and enjoy the car.

^ What he said. The performance variant of the C7 will likely not be a convertible. Want a Vert - or want a top dog Coupe?

I've already decided to buy the convertible Z51. Who knows when they will make another car and what it will cost.

Mine also will come in about $72, which I consider a bargain.

Personally, I don't think it makes sense to spend 72k for a base vette. I say this because Corvettes depreciate quickly. So, when considering a vette, you can get a lot more car for cheaper money if you exercise a little patience and buy slightly used. There are always many beautiful examples out there with under 10k miles on them. Just my opinion.

I am not suggesting that he wait for the performance variant. Just pointing out that the first. "Gotta have its" for every new model take a giant kick in the gonads. Now if you have say 7 to 10k to toss just to be one of the first, well, hey it's ur money ur tossing. Me, I don't feel comfortable taking any larger depreciation hit than I have to on a new car.

I like your thinking. Buy now while the price is high and then sell in a year when the price is low.LOL

Didn't the C7 get boasted as a premium sports car with superior technology and performance for "about" $56,000?

How is this a base car?

yellow convertible
magnetic ride control
dual mode exhaust
2lt
z51
chrome wheels
yellow calipers.

That's almost every option available.

I may be in the minority, but I view this simply as a highly optioned base car.

its likely going to be several years before a high performance vert becomes available, if at all. with those few years or more, you stand a chance to not get one at all, and if so, annul price increases.
If your finances are in order and you can, get the one you want now. we all know it will depreciate, but none of us know when the end is near. drive it now

Personally, I am going to wait for the '15 or '16 models, assess the what the choices are then and get something close to invoice. Good luck!

I see what you are saying with the possible future models. My only point is that any car is going to climb in price when you start adding options especially the convertible.

Mine is around $64k with Z51, MSRC, 2LT, and a couple of LPO things.
