And of course, if no one buys the first year of the C7, the likely hood of future hi-po versions is in doubt.

Any time we have a corvette capable of zero to 60 mph in 3.8 seconds or capable of handling in excess of 1.1 lateral G's....I'd say we've got a high performance vehicle.
The fact that this is a standard corvette is cause for celebration...

Indeed. Well said. The "Z" will be a beast of a car and the best handling vette ever...just wish the design was a bit different in areas.

Which car will take a larger it? Probably the C7 but not buy a whole lot. I bet 1 year depreciate on a C7 will be 5-7K. ZR1 will be right up there with it!
You have to ask which one will be easier to sell, a 2 year old IN warranty CURRENT model. Or a flagship 6 year old ZR1. My money is you will sell the C7 a lot faster. JMHO.

its likely going to be several years before a high performance vert becomes available, if at all. with those few years or more, you stand a chance to not get one at all, and if so, annul price increases.
If your finances are in order and you can, get the one you want now. we all know it will depreciate, but none of us know when the end is near. drive it now

"No One Knows When The End Is Near" .
Also I just got married and my wife is down for getting one. She might want one in a few years. Ill prob have kids etc.
I ordered it today. With Tag Title and Tax a little over 72000. I guess I added something wrong. It was not 75000.
Also the guy is giving me a FREE Corvette hat and shirt. That's over a $50 value. WHAT A DEAL!!!!.
Oh and another point that was brought up that was a good point
They probably will not have high performance convertible option for some time. So I should be good with a z51 vert.
The magnetic Ride Control and Dual Mode Exhaust was probably not needed but oh well, it will be fun.

Sticker price of $72k seems reasonable considering that my 2007 3LT Z51 convert stickered for $66,295 nearly 7 years ago.

I would seriously consider a new c6 z or 427 vert. Both that are heavily optioned are getting 20k off bringing it into the same price range of your configured c7. It also seems like there is a surplus of 427 verts so discounts maybe deeper in a month or 2.

I have a 427 Convertible already and even though it is #41, it was discounted quite a bit. But the fact remains that my wife and I both want a C7 vert, and she wants it right now, dammit!! Since she makes enough to afford it, the $73.2K sticker before taxes is just the cost of being first in.

OP, depends on what you want. If you have to have vert, then a 7 or a 427 vert are both good choices.
If you can live with - or even like - a coupe then waiting on the Z or picking up a C6ZR (which are bullet-proof reliable, reasonably priced and fabulous performers) would work. Don't downplay the Z51 7's capabilities tho. It is a serious performer.
So - seems like the key to your dilemma is figuring out if you want a vert, as I don't think you'll see a hi-po 7 variant in a convertible.

Convertible - Corvette or Z06
I just saw a newly purchased 2013 427 convertible (essentially a Z06) with everything you are looking for and it has an LS7. It listed for a surprisingly low $84K, and I'm sure you can buy a new version for your $75K.
I found that by the time I added stuff like the Z51 items, that I should just buy a Z06 instead of a regular Corvette. So, I just bought a C6 Z06 5 years ago. The C6 427 convertible has what you're looking for and will be worth more in 10 years than any regular C7 Corvette.
Even a C7 is NOT up to the standards of a Z06, go for a C6 427 (essentially a Z06 with a ragtop).

True, but GM did stuff the Z06's guts into a C6 convertible, cladded it with Z06 body panels and called it the 427 Convertible, and it was definitely a higher preforming car over the base C6.
