Looks like Comp seats are going to be available this month
From GM to Dealers:
As for the optional Competition Sports Seat (RPO: AE4), dealers will be able to submit orders with this option to production starting with the DOSP cycle of Thursday, August 29, 2013. It is expected initial demand for this option will be very strong, and may require a constraint for this option during the initial production start-up period. Please monitor the weekly constraint wire for further details.
One other note regarding the Competition Sports Seat; when these seats are ordered with the sueded microfiber inserts, the steering wheel and shifter will also feature sueded microfiber fabric.

Excellent.
It's good to hear that demand is strong. That means they'll really push.

I may be mistaken but thought there was mention of the comp seats not having bolster and lumbar adjustability. Just curious, my build would fit but have GT seats on order.

I can't wait to try the comp seats. Anything is better than the C5 and C6 seats....

From the looks of it, they're identical to Caravaggio's kick-*** Daytona seats for the C6. I use them daily and on long trips and they're just fine. But: I'm not a fat ***.

Originally it seemed a no-brainer to order the comp seats. I have/had Recaros in my two CTS V coupes, and was very happy with them, although many of my fellow owners complained about the discomfort. I always wondered how you couldn't find comfort- they had about a zillion ways to adjust them.
But in speaking with my sales guy and reading up on this and other forums, I am hesitant now to buy them without actually sitting in them. I know the Recaros are tight on a guy like me, 5'7' and over 200 lbs. So when the same kind of talk starts to come out here, it spooks me. Plus the GT seats have gotten such rave reviews. Then there's also the delays that will come with this option.
So right now i am sticking with the GT seats. IMHO they are a better looking seat as well.
Anybody else wavering?

A word of caution on having suede microfiber on the wheel and the shifter: I have read elsewhere comments from Porsche owners who had Alcantara-wrapped wheels that they get grungy and are next to impossible to get cleaned up...

By looking at the pics of both seats it looks like the base of the seats are same on both, it's just the seat back that is different. Anyone else noticed this?
Not much difference in the seats either way...

Reports suggest the padding is much stiffer in the competition seats and the upper side bolsters are bigger. The bottom bolsters, if a stiffer material, would provide better support at the expense of a little comfort.

I hope that's not the final picture because it will make them uselss for a harness as opposed to what the holes in the back would suggest.
Where do the straps go down for the 5 point harness?
Good to make 2 holes in the seat back, but we also need them to go through the bottom like Porsche sport seats.
