Smaller cockpit in C7?
Talked to a friend who was at the NCRS national meet and he said one of the engineers told him they shortened the cockpit by two inches. Anyone else there and hear such?

I don't think his question is answered in a practical sense. We traded our C5 for a C6, the official dimensions are practically identical but I can tell you there is a difference. Our C6 seems a little tighter but not a problem for us.
A bigger friend is on his second C5 and he has a lot of miles. I've watched him drive his car, entry and exit are typical Corvette, and he's quite comfortable behind the wheel.
When he rides or drives my C6, with the seat all the way back and a fair amount of tilt, his entry and exit are a struggle. Once he gets in the car, he's a lot more "folded" than in his C5.
One member of our club has sat in a C7, with the seat adjusted back, and says it is noticeably tighter than his C6.

I'll agree with the others -- I sat in a C7 today it felt noticeably tighter than my C5. Maybe it was just the better fitting seats. I'm not an overly large guy, and it wasn't uncomfortable, but it definitely felt smaller to me.

I also sat in the C7 and thought it felt smaller also but in a good way. The dash wraps around you and the seats hug you more than in the C6. I do find it hard to believe overly large individuals will feel comfortable in one though.

Overly large individuals have learned to feel comfortable everywhere, or they feel comfortable nowhere.

Hmmm, interesting. I had a C5 and found the C6 to be easier to get in and out and my buddy just bought a new Grand Sport and said the same thing. I'm a fat lard *** and he's 6'3" long legged guy. I think the C7 gives the illusion of being tighter because the way the dash wraps around the driver & the partition for the passenger. The stats don't lie.

It's interesting that the OP used the word "cockpit". That's the point. Driving a Corvette is much more fun when the driver feels enclosed in a cockpit. The 1990-1993 was a good example. The C5s I owned were great cars but lost some of that cockpit feel. C6s are a bit better. Sitting in a C7 cockpit is the best ever, they really got it right this time

C5, C6 and C7 interiors are way too Spacious.
First, the ultimate.
Perfect shaped roof.
Then the 2015 Lotus Elise. Perfect size. Perfect dash.
This is as large as a Vette interior should be.
The C4 was nice. I loved the bread box dash, Dave McClelland's baby. The scribes destroyed this advanced 'glass' concept. Nearly 30' years later, it has returned.
Still modern for aircraft standards.
This is the 90 Vette dash with the best seats yet. As big and as spacious as a Corvette should be. It still can pass for cozy.
Grand Sport was a damn nice car with a terrific interior.
From here, it got way too big for a sports car.
