Cancelled my order
Should have listened to the warnings in this forum and waited to purchase until the froth is off this bubbly intro. Local dealer (Forum sponsor) just kept playing games by 1) not confirming MSRP pricing 2) low-balling my CTS-V cpe trade value, and 3) jumping buyers up the waiting list for crazy premium bids. I shall not play that game, homey. Enjoyed talking to Rick Conti, and would go with him if this were a straight cash deal, but too complicated to do a long distance trade.
Sadly, I'll have to wait til next spring or summer to enjoy my VY Z51. Tho better that than waiting, frustrated, at the mercy of a mediocre salesman and really lousy sales manager. Hopefully someone else can earn the $8500 dealer profit (and for what again????)

KNOWING your dealer is better than ANY advertising. The Forum is a great vehicle, but there's no way they can know the hearts and habits of their advertisers. Only customers can do that. I guess it also reminds all of us to do our due diligence before we place our trust in a business.
I am so sorry you're having that problem and have been forced to walk away. It's too late now, but if you're anywhere near Orange County, CA I can vouch for the honesty of Connell Chevrolet in Costa Mesa, CA and Ed & Joey Cuadra in particular. 714-546-1200

That's sad news. I'm pretty sure if you were willing to look outside your area you could find a dealer that would play fair and have an unsold 2014 sometime after Jan. People talk more loudly about the bad dealers than the ones they're satisfied with. I'm totally comfortable with mine (even if he's getting me for MSRP) but that's the market. Demanding over that in this 'market adjustment' scam does not create good will or repeat business.
Hope to see you back.

Was it that dirty Hendricks Chevy that made you cancel your order ?

A lot of dealers are doing this. Most in my are are playing games and some are selling at MSRP and saying this car will go up in value. They are all dumb. At the end of the day this is just a base corvette and they are going to sell like 20-30 thousand of them. Everyone who pays MSRP might as well throw 15k in the trash can because that is pretty much the equivalent.

I am replacing my 2012 CTS V coupe with my C7. Not sure how I will dispose of the V. Posted on V forum classifieds; may trade with my Vette dealer when car gets closer; may sell to a dealer beforehand just to unclutter the transaction.
Sorry it didn't work out right now.

It's better to have integrity than to let your emotions fog your judgement.
I'd love to have one of the first C7s but i too have decided to wait for the dust to settle and will look the middle of next year for new baby.

sad to hear.
But...
I don't know how you can bash that; trading in a car is always optional on your part. If you think the car is worth a lot more; sell it yourself.
Over the near 40 cars we've owned over the years; I think we traded in only 2 of the cars. You take a bath every time with a trade; sometimes the bath water is only a few inches deep; other times it's about to drown you !

Sorry to hear that you have cancelled.
Unfortunately the temptation overcomes many Stealerships at the time of a new launch. I wish there was something that was included in their franchise agreement that prevented this behavior. A few months into the launch this too will pass.

I feel for you, man.
I had to drop my regular dealer because of their lack of allocation. The one I'm dealing with now never communicates and has been bumping people to the front of the list constantly because of outrageous premium bids. I can't play that game based on principle alone.
I'm considering pulling out my deposit because it seems like by the time they eventually place my order, my trusted dealer will be able to start ordering.

Sold units have priority over dealer stock orders. If the O/P backs out will his dealer keep the order active and have the car built as a sold unit? Does he then get an early delivery supposedly sold unit to sit in the showroom and charge over MSRP? I remember dealers submitting false orders in the past and GM and Ford calling the buyer to see if it was a legitimate order.

Not sure what he is offering you, but here are last month's auction numbers for 2012 CTV-V coupes. Hope this helps. You should be able to get about $1000 under these numbers on trade
