Even if, a big if, it's only equal in straight line performance and outperforms in the corners, it's a superior car. It is a sports car, isn't it? Good job GM.

Its 285 to a 285 the article did not compare a grand sport to a C7. The michelin is really that good. It is the top street tire on some of the most expensive cars out there. And the goodyears are one of the worst tires for drag racing out there. But me and you can go back and forth all day until someone gets the same tires on the same track no one will really know. At the end of the day trap speed doesn't lie and a 1 mph trap difference doesn't equate to .3 or .6 in the 1/4 if traction is equal. That is basic drag racing. Shame they didn't publish the short times. And you can THINK that the trap speed maybe wrong but that doesn't make it so. All the mag articles I have seen has it around 117 not just edmunds. a few even have the et slower. And at the end of the day since according to edmunds the C6 has 7.511 hp to pound ratio and the C7 has a 7.486 hp to pound ratio it seems that the trap speeds that the mags are making seem to be alot more realistic then your opinion. Near identical power to weight ratio, identical gearing, both have manuals, Not to mention much more rotational weight (bigger wheels, heavy driveshaft, big brakes) I'm not sure where 3-4 mph trap speed increase would come from.
The 3-4 mph come from the fact that the '14 has more area under the curve, a rear weight bias and it does have a marginally better hp to weight ratio. I think the car will work well at the strip. I hope to be running mine this fall.

BTW BLACKVETTE...I will be bringing my C7 down to Florida probably by the end of the year and usually go to the Streetcar Drags at PBIR with my '12 GT-R. I will likely bring the C7 instead for the January event. Come on out and bring your Z06.
I don't expect the C7 to be faster but it will be fun.

That being said, can you tell us why you bought a far-inferior performing C6 Grand Sport instead of a C6 Z06 but are supposedly waiting to see what the C7 "Hi-Po model" brings?
Why didn't you spend ~$20-25k "2 years ago" to buy a Z06 instead of a GS?

Oh bullsh$t.
Nearly every decent thread gets permeated by pretty much the same handful of people trashing any improvments the C7 has shown, complaining about its looks or otherwise whining. Nobody is trying to "score points", we want to talk about the car.
If all of you would go away (and lump yourself in that category if it fits), and those of us buying and those who support the C7 were left to discuss it (you know, like in every other generation or model specific section on this forum), this section would be vastly improved.

It's funny, you don't see C5 guys bashing the C7 even though it's twice the car the C5 is, gee, I wonder why that is?

You know, Sam, it's funny to watch you repeatedly make this comment.

Artificial left leg although I can and have rowed gears forever. Traffic blows in Phoenix and just tired of sticks. Yes, had a nasty 306 Fox body Coupe.

Very nice! Hang on to it. Mine was just to radical and sat in the garage but it was a blast with ET Steets and Flowmaster 1 chamber race mufflers.

BTW Sam, that "nasty" Fox body was a ****ing turd, but keep telling yourself how "badass" it was.
"Search THR 306"...let me guess, it had Flowmasters on it.

Sounds better than my Corvette.
I also have an '87 Grand National and '81 Z28 4 speed (I love 80's era cars).

My mistake on the tire size. I am so used to people whining about how the GS would be faster with the Michelins that I lost sight of the fact that we were discussing the Z51. However, I agree that we probably won't agree on the benefits of the Michelins over the Goodyears. FWIW...I have cut a shitload of 1.8-.9's with the F1 Supercars RFT's in a '13 GT500 (and they are 285's), so IMO they will work. I don't see a .2-.3 60' advantage by switching to a same-sized non-DR tire (obviously we aren't talking about going from a Firestone Firehawk to the Michelins).
The 3-4 mph come from the fact that the '14 has more area under the curve, a rear weight bias and it does have a marginally better hp to weight ratio. I think the car will work well at the strip. I hope to be running mine this fall.

Oh yeah I'll hold on to it, Foxes are gaining in value, well at least un to lightly modded ones, around here it's tough to find an unmolested original and when you do they are in the low to mid teens. The cars drive like crap compared to Corvettes (no surprise there) so it's weird when I hop in it and drive but yeah, it's a blast to drive and sounds great with the Flowmasters that I have in it.

If people buy the car for its great handling/braking, or amazing interior, or how it looks that's great.
Fits me to a T.

The C7 will be a great road course car but it just doesn't do it in the straights. I think it's been seriously nudered to appease CAFE democrats and to add an easy mid model hp jump. It literally has a statistically negliable power to weight ratio improvement. 0.025 Hp to weight improvement and people question the trap speeds. If the C7 driver is 50 pounds heavier then the C6 driver it now has a worse power to weight ratio then the C6.
People will mention power under the curve and torque under 4000 rpm comparable to the LS7. Which makes a great street car and its good for a road course car if you do not know how to keep the revs up through the twisties. But means nothing from a roll. And only effects the hole shot at the strip.
Otherwise I agree.
