Edmuns C7 w/ Z51 vs. 2012 Porsche 911 Carrera S article
Although it's not a side by side same track day conditions, it makes me feel really good about how much car you get for the money!

The tables have turned: The $99,000 German is slightly quicker in a straight line, but the $59,000 American beats the German in handling prowess, and not by a little bit. Wonder if Porsche will finally ditch the crappy front-end McPherson suspension. Well done, GM.

If you read to the bottom it get's really interesting! "And for fun, here's what it looks like when the 2014 Chevy Corvette Stingray goes up against a 2012 Porsche 911 Carrera S with PDK instead of the manual transmission." The results are very surprising even when the Porsche has that PDK installed ($20K option?)

The corvette actually beats the Porsche in the quarter mile in both builds, and basically everything else

$30K more? Isn't the Carrera S closer to $50K more (base... let alone once you add options)?
Or are they comparing the used 2012 911 S price to the new 2014 C7 price?

Only advantage the Porsche has is the rearward heavy weight bias helps it to get traction out of the hole. I sure wouldn't call that faster in a straight line. 0-60 times are the most worthless and rediculous statistic. It is 80% traction, and favors rear engine and all wheel drive cars. In the real world it means little. Go to the drag strip, and you have a tacky track that narrows the gap, anywhere else, who cares about the holeshot?
Get ready, when they go head to head we'll see how the Corvette really matches up. It will have to be MUCH better to overcome the bias that seems to always be present in the typcial magazine tests. For once I think the Corvette brings enough to handle the task.

I am pretty confident that the C7 is going to beat this time made by this 911S with PDK at the Ring.
Can't wait to see the C7 Ring lap time with Jim Mero..

A nicely optioned out Carrera S is a lot more than 99,000. Try 120/140. Overpriced bad design POS ( with plenty of fools falling for the "Porsche " experience). I've had my first and last Porsche, a 2003 996TT. Replaced it with an 08Z & never looked back.

Build quality is not even on the same planet. 99.99% of people do not track. I think the C7 is a hell of a car, but comparing it to the 911 all things considered for your average person is not a fair comparison. I have seen Honda Civics faster than my 911, who the hell cares. My Shelby beats both of them, but on the street the 911's HP is MUCH more usable. I almost bought a 427, but having a Shelby already decided to go for the German Power instead of the American V-8. I am glad I did, like I said it is much more usable power for 99.99% of us. With that said I am looking forward to seeing the C7 in person, I love cars regardless of Brand.
