Edmunds 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray Z51 vs. 2013 Nissan GT-R Premium Track Test
#21
Here's another, if you use the 1/4 mile time:
C7 60 mph to 117.3 mph = 7.9 seconds
GTR 60 mph to 123.3 mph = 8.0 seconds
so 0.1 seconds to get an extra 6 mph, still a bit faster, but like you can see, the difference in acceleration between these two cars is really not that much when you ignore starts from low speeds where traction is an issue.
Now put the C7 against one of the earlier GTR's that had 485 horsepower, and the GTR would be much slower off of a roll.

Scraping the splitter.
They should also include rolling acceleration when comparing AWD cars to RWD. For example, if you look at the difference in time between 0-60 and 0-75, you get the following times for 60-75 mph:
C7: 1.5 seconds
GTR: 1.3 seconds
Difference starts to shrink, and this is only 60-75 which isn't much of a range, say if it was 60-120 or 60-150 I'd say the C7 and GTR times would be very similar.

IMO, 60-130 is a better metric for modern cars than 0-60.

wish Edmunds would stop lying about the 60-0 distance: nobody but them got 93'. Everybody else has gotten 104....
CORRECT YOUR **** EDMUNDS
my bad, even in the paragraph titled braking, the 93' figure is not there and their best was 106'
what was i saying.... oh yeah:
EDMUNDS CORRECT YOUR ****!

Well seeing there is no Z06 available and not sure when GM will introduce the C7 version of the Z06 or what ever they call this was all that is available to test. These test that are popping up remember these are the Mule cars. Some refinements may make a difference in performance and handling once the production cars are released.
Will a C7 Z51 be able to run with the GT-R, Porsche Turbo Ferrari 458 or even the Audi R8, No it won't, but that does not mean this will not be one great powerful sports car that handles like no other Corvette.

The gTr is still a toilet on wheels, its ugly, no matter how well it performs.
The C7, on the other hand, is quite attractive and it still performs quite well.

It is a good read and it does show that the C7 is in the same ball park as the GTR, but it is not quite there. As many others have said on here though I will love to see the same campro between the Z06 type and the GTR. Those will be cars that are cross shopped. The truth is many people who are looking at GTR's are also looking at Z06, 911's etc not really "base" corvettes.

GT-R beats the C7 really bad in comparison, and the ONLY way a C7 would have a chance is a rolling race from about 30mph to say 130... A dig race will net the GT-R the win everytime.
Now a roll race with a early GT-R with under 530hp, we might have a shot... Either way it's going to take a nice tune, and a few small bolt ons before we can consider this a competition.
I built my car for less than 58K, so the price difference is 40K+... This makes me sleep much better at night

If they actually recorded a 93 foot distance, I really can't blame them for reporting their times, can you? It wouldn't sell many magazines to tell the reader that Motor Trend or Road and Track numbers were different.
They also recorded a 12 second 1/4 mile run vs 12.2 for the other magazines, for good reason too. Watch their videos and you can see and hear that the Edmunds driver out drives the other testers in my opinion.
It's hard for anyone to suggest they "correct" their data if that's what they recorded.

Juechter says this new Stingray's performance figures will impress, including its stopping power; with smaller tires than on the C6, it will stop from 60 to 0 mph as well as today's Z06. When fitted with the Z51 performance package, the Stingray will top the supercharged ZR1.

from a roll maybe a little closer to the C7 but not night and day in a real world setting my old 09 GTR ran 11.3-11.4@121/122. the test for that 2013 GTR is a little slow in both ET and trap my 12 runs 10.9's@over 126 so the margin is a bit wider. I dont have a lot of roll info but for instance the trap between my 1/8th and my 1/4 is about 24mph (102 to 126)
observed acceleration from my 09 to 12 is around 3-4 tenths of a sec quicker. my 12 does 0-60 in 2.8 and 0-100 in around 6.8
for instance vs a GS ( this car ran mid 12's so lets say the C7 is a couple tenths better)
but this fall I will have real world "comparison" between the 2 for everyone when the C7 arrives
as far as price difference the C7 me and my dad ordered was 72K my 2012 GTR MSRP was 97K

I really appreciate it.. and that was with a "poor/less than average for this car" 1.69 60ft time.. I recently pulled a 1.57 60ft at a local 1/8th mile in perfect prep which im sure would put me deep in the 10.8's and what was always my goal for the car without any sort of tune or modification like that.
but yeah as soon as the C7 arrives I will take them both out just for fun
im not even going into the GTR vs C7 in the "looks" comments as thats totally subjective and it doesn't mean much as there is dissension between the hardcore vette crowd about the C7 itself. I love how the GTR looks but its not for everyone it doesn't have exotic feminine lines like a ferrari or for that matter a corvette. its purposely designed masculine and literally after a japanese comic book robot so i get that its polarizing but hey I also like the rear end of the C7 so go figure.......
