I think the C7 will be the quicker car in most track tests.

What the C7 does is narrow the gap in the accessibility of those numbers. That's why its going to fare better in comparison tests. There's no more "the Corvette is hard to drive at the limit, I can't tell what the steering is doing, there's some delay in the suspension" type complaints the C6 used to get. That's where the main improvement will be.
Also, it's hilarious that the base C7 can run with the S model 991 that has a street price that is effectively DOUBLE the C7.

Porsche has fallen on it's face lately with keeping up. Their cars just flat can't keep up car for car with the Vettes nowadays. The S model should have been targeted against the estimated performance of the upcoming C7 Z06. Their 991 GT3 model should have been able to compete with the ZR1 C6 and C7. Not a chance in hell at this point. Their S model can barely keep up with the base C7.

The C5Z is still a great performer. Its quicker than the C6 GrandSport as well. Light weight and aggressive gearing go a long way. But now you get that performance with luxury car type features, and really, accounting for everything, is the C7 is probably cheaper in today's money.

Yeah, they make great cars but I don't think they are as focused on delivering outright performance to the customers with their lower cars. And that's OK. They know their buyers aren't looking for blinding speed. At least I hope not.

For performance, you have to pay to play with Porsche. The GT and Turbo models are where its at for the 911 and I've seen nothing but rave reviews for the new GT3.

And as usual, Porsche guys will buy Porsches and Corvette guys will buy Corvettes and nothing is going to change their opinion on why their car is better. As it should be.

Looks sexy & all sounds great except... heavier with smaller tires. Once sorted out footprint will win. I see a lot of dual mass clutch jobs in my future.

Get less options.

The $8K for the full leather interior is pretty useless for me.

I'll be keeping my '07 Z06 when my new Z51 arrives in August/September(?). Best of both worlds?

A recent survey of the Grand Sports at my local dealer had them all in the $65,000/$66,000 range. Remember, the Grand Sport was basically a Z51 with Z06 style body panels.

Me too...because I can afford a C7 (and stay married - maybe), where a Lambo or Ferrari is out of my price range and is straight divorce material.

Stay married, the divorce will cost you more than the Ferrari. When she starts to nag, just grab your keys and go for a ride to the closest "ballet". You'll forget about all your troubles. Ha.

The C7 by the numbers isn't quicker than the C6 GS. Maybe 1 tenth in the 1/4. The older 997 Carrera has already been declared a better car in every aspect then the GS C6. I don't see the 3,444lb C7 porker fairing well against the new 991 Carrera S in a drivers comparison.
I didn't say it... the mags said it and I just repeated it. Put a C7, 911S and GS on a track on the same day, same driver and I putting money on the C7 any day. You will obviously disagree... let's wait and see based on the comparison tests to come.

Get a 1LT with Z51 and then pull the air bags, AFM, 7th gear, fab up an aluminum or carbon fiber torque tube, pull the crash beams out of the doors, get rid of the bumper absorbers, etc...

Oh I see... I guess Porsches don't come with air bags or any features and this is how they keep the weight down. They must not meet the government standards either because if they did their cars would weigh almost 3500lbs as well.
