Car & Driver review and figures

As for the Jag, they likely underrated their performance numbers a bit. Doesn't matter, a simple tune will likely bring the numbers into the V8 S area no problem.

It looks like C&D did a test of the S type Jag as well. If you look at the chart on the last page where there is comparsions to the Viper, 911, etc. It looks like the Jag was a little under 4 seconds 0-60 and a little under 12 seconds in the 1/4 mile. Of course a true comparrision would be to have both cars run on the same track on the same day. Different tracks and different weather conditions could easily add .3 seconds on either time.

Good reading. Hopefully some day I'll have a C7 in my garage.

All you guys crying over a 0-60 or 1/4 mile that is a few tenths off are missing the point. What about the overall review? Where they say it's the best Corvette ever? Or, the easiest to drive fast? Or the high end interior? Or, the stunning looks?

The sound of the motor in the interior is impressive.

Thanks for sharing. It's killing me that these aren't showing up for the iPad Newsstand app. I'd simply like to add (and if anyone cares to review my posts here over the last several months), I told you so.

Drifting
GM rates the Z06 at 3.7, ZR1 at 3.3. Both those hit 60mph in first gear, allowing those times. You're looking at potentially .2 seconds added due to a shift on the c6/c7. There's no way it would hit those numbers. The best Z06 0-60 I've seen printed was 3.5 from a gtr/911turbo/Z06 test awhile ago.
Also, the quarter mile is a little off, but not much. This cars updated brakes, suspension, handling settings amount to little in the quarter. Plus, with the gearing identical to a c6, the car making more power/weighing more, and it not being any more peaky then an ls3(sorry to all those boasting about the LT1's huge low end, but it doesnt affect how fast the car is when you don't drop below 4000rpm) it only makes sense it would only be a tick faster then a C6 with z51 gearing.
I know it's a brand new car in every sense, but as a performance car, by the numbers, it is simply a very proportionate next step up.
Of course, as said, a 1lt being lighter, (possibly without Z51) might pull off 12.0 all day. Gearing is a huge game changer, but you can't discount 100+lbs.

Jag F-Type
Also keep in mind that they are quoting the numbers from the V8-S which starts at $92,000, not the base model...and as was posted earlier their own web-site lists its 0-60 time at 4.2 seconds and it gets an "awesome" 23mpg on the highway.
Not impressed.

Melting Slicks
GM's official numbers had to come in better than the Grand Sport, so I believe that is why they posted 3.8 0-60 and 12 flat 1/4 mile. They probably got these numbers in ideal conditions, using the lightweight 1LT model, and with a genetically engineered mutant driver. This was likely for marketing reasons because of the posted Grand Sport numbers. Imagine the new Stingray posting literally the same performance numbers as the GS? Wouldn't fair well.
As for the Jag, they likely underrated their performance numbers a bit. Doesn't matter, a simple tune will likely bring the numbers into the V8 S area no problem.
