Default Corvettes at Carlisle

Hey guys,

I am planning to attend the event this year. I would like your opinions on what to plan for, what to do, where to stay, etc. Basically, I want my first time to be amazing with as little headaches as possible. So please dump all the knowledge you can about the ins and outs of this event. And what to do outside of it when it shuts down for the day.

I want to especially know what you have learned NOT to do.
But also, I would like to know what you guys found to be the most fun, what are things I shouldn't miss, "If I were to go again, I would do this different", etc.

Thanks.

Carlisle is a dusty, sometimes muddy place. Evenings will be spent cleaning your car. I would suggest Hershey, see how they make Hershey Bars - Hershey Park is another way to spend a day, great experience.

You can see EVERYTHING at a leisurely pace at Carlisle in one day if you get there early. Off course this leaves little or no time just to hang out and sit by your car on the lawn, if that's your thing.

I'll be there in my "Carlisle Blue" coupe. First time for me as well. I figure I'm getting in for free, might as well give it a try...

If you haven't already booked one start looking for a hotel room. They can be hard to find. I always go on-line and register my car early because it saves you time entering the fairgrounds. They will mail you a sticker for your windshield and you don't have to stop at the gate. You should also consider doing the parade Sat. night.

I was thinking about registering for the parade but seeing this is the first time I am going, I thought it would be more fun to watch the parade. Otherwise, I would only see the corvette in front and behind me.

It's usually very HOT! So bring plenty of water and anything to shade you plus sun block.
If you want to see everything be prepared to do lots of walking. It is a huge place so have good walking shoes.
If you arrive after 6am, be prepared for lines into the show to be big. I would go the 1st day as Sat and Sun are usually packed.
Food is actually pretty good for an event like this. Kerbeck usually passes out a nice poster and I would think this one would have the C7 on it.
GM tent usually has a nice display and some guys from the factory and other Corvette notables will be there. They should have a C7 or 2 and will answer all your questions.

This!

If you don't all ready have a room, find one, now. Carlisle attendees book their rooms each year for the next year as they check out for the current visit. This will be the largest attended event in recent history with the release of the Stingray. GM has a huge contingent booked and going for this years event. They booked so many rooms that they displaced some folks that have been going and staying at the same hotel for several years.

Find a room, soon.

29 years in a row for me at the same place. I register for the following year as I check in.

I've been there 6 of the last 7 years! I can't see it all in 2 days but I look too close at some things (too long). It's always HOT so plan for that.
Beer can only be purchased by the case at the package stores in PA and wine is a challenge too ( if it matters). Food is good and meeting new and interesting people is unavoidable.
If your're passionate about Corvette's you will feel as though you're in heaven. Be prepared for a really good time!
