Fellow C7 Brethren:
What a great day!!! The news is out...and we have ourselves a hell of a car!!! For those of us that took faith in the process and ordered sight unseen and without a test drive...it looks like it paid off!
Glad I got the Z51, Magnetic Ride and Dual Mode Exhaust!!! Would have kicked myself if I didn't add those since my order is in the Production Queue already. Thanks to all who have helped with guidance and made this experience incredable so far... Cheers.
Glad to be finally driving an American Car.
This is from Road and Track:
"We'll keep this simple and to the point. The 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray is going to kick all manner of *** when it starts rolling out of dealerships a few months from now. That much was assumed. Now Chevy has put some actual numbers behind the latest edition of America's Sports Car. Shocker: They're good.
•Zero to 60 in 3.8 seconds
•A 12-second quarter mile, at 119 mph
•60 to Zero in 107 feet
•1.03G in cornering
•It laps VIR in 2:51.78
Those numbers are for a car fitted with the Z51 package. The VIR lap car also had the killer magnetic ride control system, as well as the safety additions of a racing seat, harness, roll cage and fire extinguisher.
Argue about the styling. Argue about the fact that it's not European. Argue about how long it'll for someone to run the first 10-second quarter in one. The Corvette is all honey badger about that stuff. It's gonna walk the walk and give everyone plenty to squawk about. Fun city, man."
Form Car and Driver:
Chevrolet has just released official performance estimates for its 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray equipped with the Z51 performance package, and so far the new ‘Vette looks promising: 3.8-second 0-60 mph estimate, and a 12.0-second quarter-mile at 119 mph – all thanks to the 2014 Corvette Stingray’s new 460-hp, 465-lb-ft 6.2-liter LT1 V-8 (Stingrays without the performance exhaust produce 455 hp and 460 lb-ft).
In addition to the impressive acceleration figures, Chevrolet also estimates the 2014 Corvette Stingray Z51 will brake from 60-0 mph in 107 feet, and manage an average of 1.03 g in lateral acceleration.
Aside from releasing its performance estimates, Chevy said its new Stingray lapped Virginia International Raceway (VIR) in 2:51.78 when piloted by Corvette dynamics engineer Jim Mero. According to Fastestlaps.com, Mero managed a 2:45.63 lap at VIR in the much more powerful C6 Corvette ZR1 back in 2008.
That would bode well for Chevy’s claims that the new Corvette Stingray Z51 is quicker than the outgoing Corvette Z06. Keeping in mind that manufacturer performance estimates are usually on the conservative side.

Scraping the splitter.
I honestly love the vents and louvers. They're functional (depending on options) and IMO, they give the car a purposeful look.
Thanks for the pics.

I'm glad the article recognized the fact that seats need to be changed for the track time...can you imagine trying to drive this track in the stock C6 seats..hilarious picture.
