Brake Dust - C7
I have a 2012 GS and will be trading in when my new C7 - Crystal Red Coupe arrives.
The GS is known for its great amount of brake dust. With the new brakes on the C7, do you think there will be as much brake dust?
Anyone know?

I have had Brembo brakes on two cars. They dust like crazy as most high performance brakes do. You can change to ceramics and give up some stopping power with no ill effect if you don't track your car.

Depends on the compound/material. The GS and C6Z share the same brakes and pads. They stop great but dust like mad. Changed mine out to Ceramics and no dust but would not track them. I wonder if the C7 and the Hi-Po C7 will share the same brakes?

OP - change to different pads. Easy to get away from brake dust.

Anyone ever changed a C6 over to Carbon Metallic?

Based on past history, expect the Z51 pads to produce more dust than the base pads

I found after a few thousand miles the dusting slows down dramatically.
I agree for the first few thousand miles its pretty funny and a bit of a pain in the @ss....
I was glad that the dusting subsided....but I don't remember the exact mileage,
I just figured it was part of the ownership experience of a 190 mph road rocket

We will have the 1521 compound for the C7 so as they hit the showrooms.
The Carbotech™ 1521™ is our high performance street compound. The 1521™ compound is known for its release and modulation, along with unmatched rotor friendliness. 1521™ is also a very low dusting and low noise compound with an excellent initial bite. This compound's excellent linear torque production provides incredible braking force without ABS intervention. Carbotech™ 1521™ operating range starts out at ambient and goes up to 800°F (426°C+). 1521™ is suitable for ALL street cars, perfect for your tow vehicle or fleet vehicle. Carbotech™ 1521™ is NOT recommended for ANY track use.

Burning Brakes
With that said, in my experience at the track, ceramics performed fine even on my ~3600-lb luxury car with smaller brakes and worse ventilation than the C7. Granted, this particular track was not very hard on brakes, and I've only been on nice, cool days, AND my car isn't nearly as powerful as a C7... but still. I bet in a lot of situations, ceramic pads might be OK even on a tracked C7.
