Default Silver C7 with painted wheels? Forum input please

One of the colors I am considering is Silver. I have only seen photos of silver with chrome wheels which I think looks great, but I just can't justify another $2K for the chrome. I would rather switch the exterior color and stay with the standard painted wheels What do you think of the silver painted wheels on a silver car? I don't think the silver is the same either...

Don't like the black wheels, so not an option for me.

I ordered Blade Silver with red interior and red calipers.....also going with chrome wheels......think of it this way, it's only $500 a wheel and the car looks ten times better....also attracts more attention and more appealing on resale....I used to be an LT1 guy till I started adding stuff and happy I did....however, I'm still stumped on whether to go for the CF stuff or not...

Silver is probably the one colour which needs black wheels most of the C7 colour lineup. Silver or maybe yellow. Both look much better with black wheels than chrome or painted IMO.

You don't say if you're getting Z51 wheels or not, but if not, don't forget the machine-faced option. I wish this was offered for Z51.

But if you are going Z51, I agree it's a tough choice. I ultimately went with black for my Lime Rock Green because the chrome Z51 wheels are a bit too much bling for me (+$2K!) and the silver just doesn't do it for me.

I kinda wish chrome Gumbies was an option.

I got my Machine Silver '08 originally w/stock silver painted wheels.

The MS is darker than the silver on the rims. When the C6 went to Blade Silver the silver painted wheels looked like a match. The C7 is still Blade Silver so I'm betting the basic silver painted wheels will look good.

Here's my advice. I did this when I bought my C5 back in 99 and when I bought my C6 in 06. I ordered the car with the stock painted wheels. Why? Because I knew that I could get the chrome wheel exchange from West Coast Corvette for less money and they were a better chrome job than the factory wheels. Now with the C7 it's just a matter of time. BTW they are GM wheels, not repro's. They take your old ones and strip and rechrome them. I had no problems with those guys and they are a forum vendor.

You are not alone I have Blade Silver/w Silver painted wheels, it's Queued for production so that what I am getting. Actually with Silver they don't look bad, had a Silver C6 same combo. I got a Z51 so split sproke silver paint is it.

Default Great input and responses from the forum!

Thanks everyone. The input is very helpful. the 08 photo also useful in seeing something visual. The swap out option at a later date does seem like a good option for flexibility.

*appreciated*

I think the silver on silve combo will look great, it's what I ordered. Can't wait to see yours if it's already in line for production.

Get the painted wheels. If you have a white belt and shoes then you probably want the chrome wheels.

JMO but if you're buying a new beautiful new C7 and you like chrome wheels heck with the 2k buy it the way you'll happy with it and won't be looking back a year later wishing you had gotten the wheels you liked the most on it..congrats and enjoy either way!!
