In my mind, an even more important question would be about the convertible. If the Z51 is available on the convertible, and the convertible does not include the vents (because it interferes with the roof), then how are the transmission fluid and differential fluid cooled?

C7 Vert Owner's Manual says: Every 200 miles, place a 20 pound bag of ice in the rear storage area - as it melts, it drips thru onto the tranny & diff, providing necessary cooling.

No, come on this isn't going to work. What if you only drive it on the weekend and only say about 50 miles at a time? If you wait for the next 200 miles .... that could be a month or even more before you load more coolant. That can't be the answer

I found several places that seem to confirm what I thought - "One vent is used to cool the automatic transmission regardless of trim level. Both vents are used with the Z51 option."

While we're on the subject here's something I haven't confirmed yet: on a 7 speed non-Z51 coupe there are no coolers. Someone posted that the vents would be blocked off. It's my belief that the vents are open and the air just flows through the quarter panels and out the vents in the rear of the car. Does anybody know which is true?

All the photos so far have shown vents on all the coupes (whether Z-51 or not) and no vents on all the Verts (vents are under wheel wells, and are less effective which is deemed OK since the Vert isn't really meant for the track).

My understanding is that if you add a roll bar you can track a convert.
I wonder if they couldn't have split the vent between the body and the tonneau and let the air go through any mechanisms.

In seminars at the Bash it was stated that for the vert, air is ducted from below but no illustration showing how it's ducted. But on the same weekend someone mentioned the vert doesn't have cooling vents. I think either he was misinformed or was just referring to no VISIBLE vents. ( there were other conflicting C7 statements too, the C7 is still so new).
