So..you are suggesting that a year of your life is only worth $5,000? You would give up driving a new Corvette for a year of your life you can not have back? I will tell you this my pleasure is worth far more then saving $5,000 in a years time.

And there lies a fundamental problem. None of us knows how long we are going to live. Trying to find balance between prudent saving and enjoying life now. If we only knew the answer to that one question.........

My 2001 Z06, My 2002 Z06, My 2004 Z06, My 2006 Z06,
My 2007 Z06 and my 2008 Z06 have all had numerous problems.
All were purchased in the 1st year of production. 06, 07, and 08 all had different issues but I certainly did not throw in the towel(as you suggest). I love the Z06, having had 6 of them, not to mention the
other 5 "regular" corvettes I have owned.
(2000 FRC, 2003 Coupe, two 2006 Coupes, and a 2006 Convert)
The 2006 coupe lost its idler pulley bolt (at 2500 miles) while running 70 MPH on I-4 in Orlando. That was a real azz puckerer!
My 2008 Z06 has had 3 seat motors, a new camshaft, 16 lifters, new power steering rack, new A/C compressor, new rear end clutch pack and 3 Radio w/Nav units.
Its a daily driver, raced ONCE, and driven normally by its 64 year old owner. Its got 45,000 miles on it with 25,000 miles on the RE050 BS runflats currently on her.
In the 13 years I have owned my Corvettes, no amount of $$ could ever replace the pleasure they have provided me.
Hope this answers you snide remark.

It was not a snide remark. Sorry you took it that way. When you live long enough you figure out life is not a long deal. The time you spend is lost forever. The year you delay is never coming back. It is a priority thing for me..Nuff said.

Today, yes, but in six to nine months, more like $2,500-$3,000 off. There are not 15,000 people that have to be the first on their block to own a C7. First three months of production will be snapped up fairly quickly, but then the buying frenzy will be over and the dealers will see less traffic looking at the C7.
With in 9 months of debut I bought my first vette-C6 at invoice

This whole discussion is funny. You overpay for everything you buy, thats the whole point of a for profit company, to make you pay more than they did. Everyone over pays for everything they don't do themselves.

My salesman informed me that, as of today at least, being a member of USAA will get me a $750 discount on the car. I joined (disabled Vietnam Veteran) and, hopefully, the discount will still be there when the car comes in. I am not sure if this is dealer specific or across board for Chevrolets. Membership is open to veterans, service members and dependents (I think). Free to join.

I would guess that except for a very small percentage who are willing to pay a little more to get the #1 or #2 spot at a local dealer the majority will pay MSRP or below.
Cheers,

Your logic makes no sense. There are several forum dealers offering MSRP with cars available. For almost everyone on these forums without some other mitigating circumstances the choice is simple: Buy from a forum dealer at MSRP or find a better deal locally.

Sound like the guy is a salesman trying to hype up the "better get it now, even if you have to pay out your ***, because they are going like hotcakes and are in short supply" crap. Just some salesman's BS to up his commission.

The USAA Discount is usually excluded from "hot" cars. Just FYI

If I want quarantee delivery with no futher mark up, no matter what the market is at that time its MSRP plus $5k. I really believe folks will be paying plus 10k before its all said and done. Then after a year it will start down. America as a whole has been saving instead of spending. Their ready to spend on something new like the vette.

If you call one of the big three Corvette dealers to buy a new C7 today , you should get the car by April next year. If they are not selling then why is that? Seems to me a good reason to discount them.
