Well follow his reasoning. The c6 is a knife fight for the c5z.. It's a driver's race on equal rubber. The c6z on the other hand is lighter and makes more power. Unless the tech in the c7 makes up for the weight and power differences, the c6z should walk on the c7.

Ok I did not see the torque curve till now. If it is really 5 ft-lbs less then the LS7 at peak and matches it 1000-4500rpm to the LS7 I am a LOT happier. I will wait for magazine reviews a test drive before I discredit it. I guess I spoke to soon but as I said I hope we can tune to get a lot more out of it.

Absolutely! I might have been too harsh. Just waiting for the car for so many months and loving the design and wanting to buy one so bad then seeing the weight and HP did disappoint me but to be fair to the C7 I need to just wait and see how good it is. I guess it was my emotion that got the best of me.

I wish the horsepower-focused guys would just buy a Mustang
And I wish GM was able to release the base C7 and the high performance model at the same time, it would have saved us from wasting time reading hundreds of redundant complaints on the Forum.
Sources predict fantastic performance from next years' performance model. This years base car is not intended to win the horsepower wars. It will just do more things better than any Corvette ever built.

This guy makes sense.

I'd personally just wait for the C6Z to drop in price. It has tremendous aftermarket support. If you're going to beat on a car at the track, it is probably best to not do it with a platform that hasn't matured.

"Your logic is sound....but nobody wants a Mustang."
I just bought a Mustang lol. And from the posts in the C7 section, looks like plenty of people want a Mustang with a DCT, mid engine and awd.

I agree. I won't be able to get the C7 till end of 2014 or early 2015 hope to see how it performs then. 1 year might not be enough time.

Although with better shock programming, stiffer frame and the electronic differential it may be as close as the comments suggest. I'm just skeptical at this point.

Well, of course. She says,"What was that car that just passed us?" He says,"I don't know. I don't recognize those tail lights."

Someone said this about the waiting for the 06 vs. 05 c6. They probably sh@t themselves when the LS3 became standard in 08. I personally would like a well refined late run c7 in black on black... I can wait 5-6 years.

The 2014 Corvette Stingray’s all-new LT1 6.2L V-8 engine is SAE-certified at 460 horsepower (343 kW) at 6,000 rpm and 465 lb-ft of torque (630 Nm) at 4,600 rpm, with the available performance exhaust system, Chevrolet announced today.
The Stingray is SAE-certified at 455 horsepower (339 kW) and 460 lb-ft (624 Nm) with the standard exhaust system. They are the highest standard power ratings ever for the Corvette, delivered with efficiency that is expected to exceed 26 mpg on the highway.
“The 2014 Corvette Stingray’s LT1 engine is a triumph of advanced technology, delivering more power and torque than ever before with greater efficiency,” said Jordan Lee, Small Block chief engineer.
“The LT1’s performance complements the Corvette’s low mass with a tremendous feeling of power that builds as the rpm climbs. Drivers will experience more power and acceleration than ever before with the standard engine – in fact, its power and torque surpass many uplevel engines offered by competitors.”
At 74 horsepower per liter, the LT1 has greater power density than the C6 Corvette’s LS3 6.2L engine and even the C6 Z06’s racing-derived 7.0L LS7. It also produces comparable torque to the LS7 – up to 4,700 rpm – and its peak torque is within 5 lb-ft of the 7.0L engine. That torque is generated early and sustained across the rpm band, with 316 lb-ft available at only 1,000 rpm and 90 percent of peak torque available from 3,000 rpm to 5,500 rpm – giving the lightweight Corvette Stingray excellent acceleration at all speeds.
Chevrolet estimates the Corvette will run from 0 to 60 mph in less than four seconds.

Good observation Tullius. I hope the engineers over a Chevy are carefully monitoring these threads lol. So I say the base C7 should have a 454ci C6ZO6 humiliating engine. The next ZO6 should have have a crate LSX502.
