NO! The number is going to be the following:

465 HP

448-450 TQ

Haven't we already discussed this. The SAE graph was published back in early May.

Thanks.

Looks legit to me what a disappointment

This would be fine with me... But again, still not official.

I'll accept whatever numbers are official when they're official.

Yep; they couldn't hold the LS1 down for very long. 345 horsepower in 1997 and 1998, but then they had to raise it to 350 to keep the C5 afloat until 2004. Only other exception was the LS6 that originally had 385 HP and then upgraded to 405 HP.

The LS2 always had 400 horsepower(over a three year life span) and the LS3 always had 430/436 over a 6 year life span.

LS7 always had 550 horsepower over a eight year life span and the LS9 always had 638 HP over a five year life span.

That would make sense given that you've never sat in a C7 yet. I'm sure that to you it always will always feel that way.

And neither have those that claim the C7 will out perform the Z06. But, the numbers are in my favor.

Those numbers we know, at least. I'm sure you are right about that. Even I don't think it will be close to 500.

Big whoop. LOL I'm sure the C6 Z will remain faster than the C7 until the C7 gets its mid-year upgrades a few years from now. That's how it was with the C5 to the C6. All the C5 guys boasting how their C5Zs were faster than LS2s (I was one of them) and we were right. They were and still are. The LS3s gave us a run for our money. At the end of the day, they were pretty well on par.

The only reason I never went to a C6 was because there wasn't much of a difference between the C5s and C6s. So I saved some money. There's an enormous difference between the C6s and C7s as far as the overall car goes. So I sold my Z06 and I'm ready for a new Vette.

But lets be honest here, the C6Z isn't going to be king of the hill over the "standard" Corvette throughout the life of the cycle. I'm pretty damn sure of it.

The C6 Z is a bad-*** car. I think we can all agree on that. But just like the C5 Z, it will fall somewhat behind in performance. Nobody can deny that. Anyone who tries is simply in denial. No different from LT5 guys saying they're still king of the hill.

Sorry, it wasn't pointed directly at you. It was more a general statement about what you said.

Some people just can't let go. Honestly, I loved my C5Z and still liked the C6 GS. I think I liked them equally. At the end of the day, I was very happy with my C5Z. And really, there's no C6 I'd take over the C7. Of course, you're all thinking "BUT THE ZR1!!!" Actually, I don't want a ZR1. I have the utmost respect for them and they're really awesome cars. But I don't want one. I plan to drive the **** out of my C7. I don't think I can do that with the ZR1. It is more power than I can handle and it is also a gas guzzler. But most importantly to me, the interior is still a C6 interior. I LOVE the interior on the C7 and I couldn't give that up, even for a top-dog version of the Vette.

And I have always said that the Z06 version(what ever it is called) of the C7 will out perform the C6 Z06, when it arrives. I have never claimed otherwise, so don't put words in my mouth. The fact is that until that souped up version of the C7 hits the street, the C6 Z06 and C6 ZR1 will out perform the current base C7 and C7 Z51, and always will. It will be the souped up version of the C7 that beats up on the C6 Z06. No one is arguing that fact.

SCM CRASH...You made a smart move enjoying that c5 z06 for as long as you did and now moving to the stunningly beautiful c7!

My hats off to you for sure.

(edit) JoeC5....we all definitely heard your statements that the c6 z06 especially with you driving...is a faster car on the track...

I think the new styling, new interior and the NEAR C6 Z06 track performance is what's driving the excitement for the 54 thousand dollar c7 Z51..

Joe.....i think we can all agree we can leave out the improved gas mileage because It most probably won't be a driving factor for many buyers......

So what you're saying is that even though the C6 GS was a driver's race for the C5 Z, you're super confident that the C6 Z is going to own the C7 Z51 throughout the entire C7 cycle? Really?! You know this for a fact or is that just denial of Corvette history? Call me crazy, but I could have sworn this sounds like denial.

I'm pretty sure the mid-cycle upgrade is either going to push the performance of the C7 Z51 above or to the same level as the C6Z. I'm VERY confident in that. GM's touting that the C7 Z51's performance is between the C6 GS and the C6 Z06. And that the non-Z51 C7 is still faster than the C6 GS. So that's not leaving that much margin between the C7 Z51 and C6 Z06. Of course, you could say something like, "GM just wants to sell cars and that's why they said that." Except that they still have to back those figures up!

Thank you! I loved that car and maybe someday I'll have the room for another C5Z or FRC. I'd love to have one for a track car.

Why is everyone so hung up on BHP #'s, all I know is that the car does 0-60 in "under 4 seconds" and probably has a top speed 180 mph +, so whether it has 100 bhp or 600 bhp it really doesn't matter, look at the performance figures, that tells the story.
