I use the factory NAV to fill that hole in the dash. I use my Garmin to actually direct me to a destination.

I just noticed something in the sales brochure:

Corvette Stingray will incorporate the simple, flexible, yet extremely powerful Chevrolet MyLink3 system that can fully integrate information from severalBluetooth®4
-enabled mobile devices, USBports, SD cards,MP3 players and an audio inputjack. An 8-inch LCD central display touch-screen (thatlowers for device storagewith USBportinside) provides access to third-party music services such asPandora® and allows for easy, undistracted access to a broad range offunctions — including many enhanced OnStar®5 features and 3-D navigation.
Anybody find any images of this 3D nav?

Found one of it in the 2014 Impala (taken from a video):

It was a PC screen capture taken from a video of unknown resolution posted on the web. I would not jump to any conclusions without seeing it in person.

There is a pretty good image of the 3D map screen on the one13thirteen.com site in the gallery.

Sounds like the integration is very similar to my Infiniti G. I recently updated mine...Map update was $99 and install was $65 --- very reasonable IMHO.

I'll always get the factory integrated unit, just a matter of ease, safety, and functionality.

Welcome to the forum. Great to have another Texan on board. As for dealer upgrade fees time will tell and those of us that have bought from the same dealer many times over might not be charged at all or at a reduced rate. My issue is more the fact that the unit disallows changes while the vehicle is in motion and the new cockpit design will make it hard for the s/o to use it from her side of the car. My LG Optimus G Pro has a huge screen and the wife can use it while I'm driving. In addition, one can't put the factory unit in the back pocket while walking around and use it either. To my way of thinking it is simply another way for the dealers to boost their bottom line.

Map update was $99 and $65 to install the map update? Is that correct?

I only paid $85 at Best Buy for my Garmin 40LM and it includes FREE map updates, four times a year. I just plug it into my computer and it goes to work downloading and updating, while I do other work.

If it craps out, I can replace it cheaper than I can a factory NAV and I will end up with the latest version Garmin, not a primitive GM replacement unit.

Got one of those too. Though I do have to admit that since I got the LG with it's 5.5" diag. screen, the Garmin has been relegated to back up status.

Excellent! Thank you. That does help put my mind at ease.

Any navigation will do its job (except Nokia's. LOL), but I'm partially buying my C7 for its looks and creature comforts. If the navigation looks like this, then I'm OK with it. Even if it looks somewhat dated after a few years.

I would get it if it interacts with the HUD nicely. If the screen or user interface is poor, I would still get it for the HUD and a Garmin for the real work.

That looks 1000% better than the one used in the C6, with all it's etch-a-sketch features and a bunch of useless info on the screen.

I am sure I get some giggles when someone walks by the Vert, and sees my Garmin sitting on the dash above the nav system.

I will be getting the nav in my C7, and hopefully, not just for the re-sale this time!
^^ mine too

It interacts with both the HUD and the IP very nicely. In my opinion, you will not need the Garmin at all and you can relegate that to duty in other vehicles.
