Will GM Showcase the Z06 next Jan?

Maybe they won't change the name, just offer the more powerful engine option with the beefed up drivetrain (as necessary) like in days gone by. I would certainly like the more a la carte approach

"Assume" is the right word. Nothing in writing, just various sources like post #6 above and ol' Keeks' CAD pics from last year. It's LT4 is a supercharged version of the LT1 and expect it to be built by the PBC in Bowling Green. We saw the wide rear wheels, tires, and fenders and big carbon brakes. We assume the rest of the body panels are carbon fiber. Although it takes the place of the Z06 we don't actually know what they'll call it. And of course no idea of the HP although one "source" mentioned 660. Sounds crazy until you think of a certain Mustang.

Personally, I think would sell more now, if they had laid the specs of Z06 and ZR1 up front, so people would make a decision to buy now or wait for Z06. Right now, even intentional buyers of the current trim are waiting to hear Z06 specs and this would slow down the sales...
Just my two cents!

They need to introduce it sooner than later. There are some beast cars coming out and GM will lose sales the longer they wait imo.

Yeah someone posted that a Michelin rep at the bash said there was a 300 (or larger?) tire in the works!

The boost gauge will be on the base, just not illuminated.

There are a certain appeal to sleeper cars, but I don't think it is the majority.

I would be surprised if this happened. People like to differentiate themselves. So if your ZR1 looks like my base model, it looses some appeal as the vast majority of owners will not be taking their cars to the track to see who is faster.

But I agree with your point, people buying the ZR1 will want something more than a tail emblem that distinguishes them from the base model.
Cheers,

Remember this, the 427 Stingray had a hood to show the diff. Could be an option engine with some upgraded body panels. Enough of a visual to draw attention to the upgrade without a huge cost jump. I like the a la cart as mentioned by rcallen 484. Should do the same with the interior.
