Default 505 hp

Met the General Manager of General Motors Retail Support yesterday. He claims he has driven the C7 and it has 505 HP.

This doesn't add up to me as it would REALLY surprise me if a GM employee was that loose lipped about this. That would be grounds for firing I would bet given the layer of secrecy the company has on the car. Having said that, it does correspond to Halltech's comment too... maybe he knows something

My bet is still 460 to 470HP.

I spoke to my neighbor Louise who works in Walmart and she said the C7 has 510 HP.

Don't care what he said. I would be shocked if they did that. They always keep the horsepower below the outgoing high performance model and I see no reason not to do the same with C7.

Yeah, his sister is my daughter's husband's cousin and she told my daughter that her brother said he was about to drive it and it looked just like this AWD version...

So, give us the details: what is his name, where did you meet him, under what circumstances? Share the details . . . . . . . . .

So as long as they keep it below 638 they are good to go

I believe he's just not a car guy. Maybe he did drive a new Corvette - likely a 427 Convertible - and he's correct, it did have 505 horsepower

OK - time is up. No details provided = never happened.

Change my reply from, 'So give us the details' to 'needlessly wasting other folks time is a sad and pathetic pastime'. Reporting that same unacceptable behavior to our Mods is much more productive. Goodbye . . .

* By the way - I Googled it - no such position exists: General Manager of General Motors Retail Support

500 at most - but I think it will take that to get to under 4.0 0-60mph considering the weight. That said, better tires and launch control might get it there with 450+.. Who knows?

No it wouldn't... the C63 with 482HP has been clocked under 4 seconds by several magazines and it weighs ~4,000lbs.

Gearing, tires, power and weight all matter. My bet is the C7 could easily be under 4 seconds with 460HP given its weight.

The C6 had 5 less hp than the outgoing Z06. I'd call that about the same especially given that the hp was Certified on the C6.

All I can say at this time was that we were a meeting together. GM is partnering with an organization that belong to. I am not going to post his name or that of the organization as to not put a major sponsorship into jeprody

Well, I could only hope that this were really the case as it would be a solid kick in the nuts to the more obnoxious Z06 owners around here.

Easily? So if it comes in at 460, what is you estimated manufacturer time -3.8? Have to go by what GM states.

I have found people that claimed to be "Assistant Manager Retail Support, so conceivably there is a Manager Retail Support... or maybe even a General Manager. If there wasn't why would they need an assistant manager?
