Different compounds I think.

Agreed... GM said the Z51 PSS have more of a racing compound vs. standard PSS tires. Why they are both branded PSS is beyond my logic... talk about confusion when trying to replace them!!

Scroll down to wheels and tires.

Z51 wheels look way better, the stockers would look okay in black not silver.

The super soft-sticky racing compound and really aggressive alignment is probably how they got a good chunk of the track performance improvements with the C7 Z51. Down side is tread life or possibly lack of it. Replacing them fairly often would not surprise me. Rear tires on Porsche 911s need replacing every 10K miles or so if you drive mildly sporty on the street. 5K-6K miles if you track on weekends.

Back to OP's topic...I like the black Z51 wheels!

I'm thinking Z51. But the standard wheels will be easier to clean.

Other than the fairly useless mini-pic in the latest sales guide, I have not seen any pictures of the machine-faced wheel.

I was just about to say the same thing... it is subjective.

Thanks. That picture in the sales guide is indeed useless.

Speaking of the sales guide. Does anyone have a link to the newest sales guide? The one that includes pictures of the interiors. I have misplaced mine.
Thanks.
I love both StingRay and z51 wheels.

Hmmm, that's interesting info. I'm thinking my first "mod" will be to have a less aggressive alignment done. Since I'll probably be getting the car just in time for winter to start, I'll need to put on A/S tires anyway. No sense in having an alignment that eats tires without any gained advantage.

If that's how you feel, then why bother with your 50 posts a day?

I like the base wheels as well. I ordered the painted base rims on my 2002; and never second guessed the decision.

Later, I upgraded to the C6 factory base painted rims.

The C7 Z51 rims are good as well

Careful, don't forget that "it's just emotion".
