No need to send the SAE paper, I believe you. It doesn't matter what rpm peak torque occurs at...torque is always higher than HP below 5252 by definition (HP=T*rpm/5252) so it's impossible to have 505 HP @ 4800 rpm when 470 lb-ft is the torque peak.
Just curious...why were you hoping I would respond?

I have no debate with you at all, just trying to understand what happened in that test.

I think Jim will be on target. But hey, if not, he WILL figure out a way to break into the new computer and do what he does best.

At least you took the bait I can show you the numbers; I'm only as smart as the numbers posted make me. If they do not make sense to you, that explains everything (I'm not being facetious). It must be an error, signed off by both the tester at SAE and the requester from GM.
My money is that it is an error, since the numbers do not make any sense.
BTW, $1000 and we could download the Level 2 Certification Document. It would show all the parameters at all rpms. That would be interesting, but not a wise use of cash. I would rather pay someone off to feed me the new LT1 numbers.

I agree about the $1000. FYI, if it was 5800 rpm, that would make torque 457 lb-ft...pretty impressive flat torque curve if true.
EDIT: I've seen many drawings and test procedures that have been reviewed by 3 or 4 people that had gross errors, some had been around 20 years...it wouldn't surprise me if the error made it past SAE and GM.
