Default HD Radio?

is it a thing of the past or something car makers are not interested in?

Am concerned C7 AM reception will be horrendous (as it is in my 2013 Malibu). Local sport channels are on the low am scale and some do had an HD channel

I have not listened to AM in ages, heck I don't know if it even works. HD radio never seemed to arrive, I think that was only on FM.

The New Corvette will have HD Radio with the mylink color touch radio system, it gives CD quality sound on FM and FM quality sound on AM, it's pretty fantastic. If you interested in playing around with the new radio that's going in the new Stingray just swing by your local chevy dealer and check out a new LT or LTZ 2014 Impala, they are one in the same.

You only get HD Radio with 2LT and above. CD quality on HD FM (compressed) would be a stretch.

I'm not what your would call an "audiophile" and don't want to try to compare one type of sound to another. But I have HD FM in my BMW and I can tell you that it is VERY noticeably better than any non-HD radio I have heard. Switching from a non HD station, either FM or XM to HD back to back is what I would call night and day difference - meaning in the same car/same system.
