Default What's under lower rear fascia?

Got rear ended last night. Fortunately very minor. Will require replacement of lower fascia which was damaged on the passenger side. I'm curious what is immediately behind the fascia that might also have been damaged. Can anyone post pictures of the rear of the car after the lower fascia is removed?

Thank you!

Sorry to hear you got rear ended. Glad it wasn't too bad, though.

Thank you for the pictures. I'm now comfortable that I only need to replace the lower fascia. Probably nothing underneath damaged. Easy repair. And since all 2014 lower fascia are the same color, the part probably comes already painted.

As bad as the situation may be, can always look at it as an opportunity to look at some of the aftermarket rear lower fascias available from forum vendors.

Until the facia is removed you will not know if the bumper protection system has been compromised. Those weird looking units might need replaced.

I'd look at the battery box (right rear side) also just to be on safe side.

When I'm detailing it is squeaks like Styrofoam, is that normal?

Facia squeaking seems to be normal. Mine gives me the shivers every time I rub on it.

Well, the other party's insurance company agreed to pay and allowed me to pick the body shop. Got the quote today and scheduled the repair for a couple of weeks out at a good local shop where I have multiple positive experiences in the past 15 years. Looks like a lower fascia and probably one "impact absorption" unit. No painting involved apparently because all C7s have the black lower fascia. No deductible for me. Pretty good outcome, all things considered.

Thank you to those providing info to me. Very helpful.

If you were considering an aftermarket rear spoiler...now's the time to get one

Go to the vendor section. You will find every sort.

Manufacturers/vendors in no particular order:
Lashway
RPI
LG Motorsports
TKO
APSIS
Katech
C7
Showtime

and I am certainly forgetting some of them. There are quite a few styles available. Just need to ask if they will cover the install holes on the 'wing' style spoiler you already have on the car. A GM C7 factory Z51 spoiler will not cover the holes on the top of the bumper if you attempt to swap them.

Unfortunately I am in the same boat. Someone hit my lower fascia in a parking lot while I was eating dinner. No note, no witnesses. Hit and run deductible for me. Before I took it to the body shop I checked to see if the lower fascia is a painted part that could simply be swapped with my damaged part. The answer is no, the part is not painted. Cost for an unpainted replacement fascia was quoted to me at $673. One body shop I had look at the repair estimated about $1200 to replace the fascia, assuming no damage to the infrastructure underneath. Sorry to hear this happened to you too. Thanks to jagamajajaran for posting the pics of the structure underneath!
