Default Some vert details possibly not known previously

Some specifics...vert top can be opened/shut up to 30mph due to new tanneau cover opening parallel to trunk versus popping open with a simple hinge.

Top operation is touchless...no latches, just button activation open to close/lock, etc. keyfob operation of top...pretty cool feature.

Was z51 always available on vert? Either way, a vert with a dry sump makes a pretty potent vert for a lot less money than current 427 vert.

4 top colors available

I am not a vert guy, so I havent followed what was known, but this was what was displayed today.

Thanks for the info, keep it coming. I assume that this is a first for the vette, the way it folds up n down that is.

This was talked about when the vert was revealed last month.

But thanks for the info. I'm sure many don't know some of this. Keep up the good work.

Don't know why but this strikes me as needless complexity versus the way the C-6 top lowered. If something fails can it be lowered manually? Or do we just enjoy the rain when we are trying to put the top up ? As for being able to put it up going 30 mph, big deal.

Anything on a car can fail. If a computer crashes and the engine stops what are you going to do? Life is like that..

I find it interesting that no where does it mention that you can raise the top with the key fob. Only lower it. Must be a reason for that.

Geez with all the federally mandated safety that goes into cars nowadays I don't see how functioning the top up to 30mph is anything more than a distraction!

Ha! Ha! I'm not a vert follower either; and so I asked the same question about the Z51. Many owners of previous generations of Z51 verts replied to me (including C6). So, I don't know if it has always been there; but it sure isn't recent.

I'm sure some product liability attorney for GM feels that you could squish the family pooch or something raising the top remotely while not paying attention. Anyway, you're correct. Top only goes down remotely, not up. Which sucks IMHO.

I don't know about it being very much more complex than the C6 version, but I'm guessing that the reason behind the redesign is to keep the tonneau flat as it lifts so you can put it up and down at speed. With the old design, that tonneau was a lot more of an air dam when it went up.

I imagine it will be capable of being lowered manually just like the C6's version can.

As for being able to operate it at speed, I think it would be nice to have the option but I wouldn't do that at any more than 15 mph myself. You can do now with the C6 version if you lift the e-brake up one click.

They said the reasoning behind the 30mph is so if you're at a red light and want to put the top down, you dont need to sit there and wait while people blow horns behind, you...you can drive off, as its a 20 second retraction process.

I did that once with my C6 vert as rain started and I was in traffic. I wasn't going anymore than 10-15 mph. Nice option if you need it.

It's probably to avoid accidental activation. I disabled the alarm button in my C6 fob because it kept getting pressed in my pocket.

A fascination with necromancy, no doubt.
