So, the base is lighter, but the z51 smokes its *** turning, stopping and accelerating so buy the lighter car?

If someone values weight over performance they have rocks for brains. Weight is one piece of a 12 cut pie...who cares. The end result is what matters.

That might be true, but the best handling Z-06 with the Z07 package weighs around 3320. So when the HP per pound ratio is finalized we will see.

Weight conscious people will have to stick with the base car. They'll probably be very happy with its better power to weight ratio and it'll still be a pretty damn good handling car.
You only would care about weight if you are tracking the car. Caring about a couple of hundred pounds on the street is BS. If you are tracking the car, you will want Z51. It's actually a bit of a catch 22... if you care about weight it's because you are tracking and, therefore, will likely opt for the heaviest option.

Some clarity and vision in the matter

As the straw men get knocked down (price being the latest), folks just keep trying to find the next thing to complain about... until that is then proven to not be valid... then to the next thing... rinse/repeat.

I think you're off by about a 110 pounds on the weight of the Z06 Z07.

Z06 with the Z07 does the skid pad at 1.13g's. Looks as if GM is saying the C7 Z51 does it at 1g.

Power to weight of the Z06 Z07 is 6.36. The C7 Z51 with 3350 pounds will need 525 HP to have that power to weight ratio. If you think the 2014 C7 will have 525 HP, then there is absolutely no hope for your recovery.

The C7 looks great to me. Maybe I'll buy a used one. Until then, I might throw a blower on my lowly LS2 so I can blow the doors off a C7.

Yeah, I think it is too heavy, but light weight comes at a price. And I definitely like the price. I wouldn't want to pay a whole lot more for a little less weight.

That added weight came from dragging your obsolete C6 bargain vert around the track to help you keep up

Next question.................

You really think that just because something is proven to not be valid, that will move 'some' onto the next thing

Not unlike a smaller engine , with new technology can out perform a larger engine ( displacement) of the past. Just theory. Goes back to trying to compare what we know to what we do not know.

Bring on the test that will answer questions.
depends on the driver. lighter cars are harder to handle when driven hard. much more skill is required than a heavier car.

The GM Engineers at the bash indicated that won't be a problem

Motor trend weighed a GS: 3324lbs.

Just going off an motor trend article with the Z06 with the Z07 pkg. We were just talkin about veh weight. Why would you think that I was expecting the C7 to match the Z06 in power to weight. I was under the impression that the z07 pkg added over 100 lb. And if the MT weight was correct its power to weight would by 6.57. With the info we have as of now the power to weight for the c7 is over 7.

That article is way off base

The Z07 package adds

mag ride............3#
Wheels/tires.....14#
rocker panels......2#

Then subtract

carbon ceramic brakes.....7.5#.
CF hood.......................11.5#

There are no other changes.

take the base Z06 curb weight of 3199 pounds and subtract 19# and then add 19#and what weight do you come up with?

These numbers come from the 2010 Bash courtesy of Kerbeck using data supplied by GM.

Even if you remove the carbon fiber rocker panels and the carbon fiber hood, you only add 9.5 pounds of weight to the Z06.

I thought we were supposed to take everything with a grain of salt that comes from GM?
