The Datsun 240Z was a nice looking car in its day. But I personally liked the Toyota GT2000 much better. Should have bought one when I had the chance as only about 100 made it to the US because of ground clearance regulations I believe. Both remotely similar in style to all Corvettes C2 on.

Interesting thread!!
I purchased a new 1971 240Z and now own the C6. When the C7 was revealed, I thought the same, there some design cue's that reminded me of my 240!
So the OP is not the ONLY one who had this thought.
Here is my 240Z shortly after delivery (no hub caps for me)

OMG I do see the resemblance of the Stingray and the 240Z now!
Here are the striking similarities:
1) 4 distinctive wheels
2) Long hood (with an engine under it!!)
3) Windshield (made of glass JUST LIKE THE C7.. OMG!)
4) Side view mirrors (Says objects are closer than they appear.. JUST LIKE THE C7.. Oh snap!)
5) Has a transmission that contains a reverse gear, similar to the tranny in the C7
6) Has pipes that move exhaust air out the back of the vehicle
7) Has two seats, and get this, ONE IS FOR THE DRIVER... Just like the C7.. !

I am deeply troubled by this thread. Everyone is so focused on car comparison, not one comment has been made that the C7 pictured is being driven in the rain and it didn't melt.

[QUOTE=Mechanic;1583688367]Tell me this puppy doesn't look like a modern Datsun 240Z.
That car looks as much like a Datzun as Rosie O'Donald looks like Kate Upton

Nice looking car back in the day. Many were that orange and I still laugh as I remember the hubcaps they came with..
For 3500 dollars it put all the British sports cars of the day on the trailer...
Triumph TR6 , MGB and the fiat 124 spider were often in the four car lineup of the test...
The "powerful" 240 z always won out....thanks for bringing back the memories and the blue one with the wider wheels and possible plastic headlight covers looks dam good..
No where near the presence of the c7. ...but nice all the same.
Today most economy cars make more hp than the first generation 240Z....
Nissan would do well to very closely copy that blue 240z for it's own poorly selling 370z....
This blue 240z is light and cleanly designed compared to the 370z.....
Actually...the spiritual successor for this 240z comes from Toyota in the form of the scion FRS...
Which from a sales perspective eat the 370z s lunch
Nissan could use a revamp of tHe 370z and fasT. ITs a slug in the market these days...I like the 370z but it's a bit heavy in appearance and in detail. Not cheap either and the pony's slaughter it in performance too...
