Default So If The C7 Price Comes In At $72,000 For The Base Stingray Will You Still Buy It?

Rumors rumors rumors but yes that price has surfaced more than once now. Is it possible GM will consider the Stingray as the base car at the C6 Grand Sport price level now? Could be. How likely would you still consider to buy the Stingray at that lofty price? This would not be a fully optioned car lets say base is $68K + $900 shipping and a few options to total $72K. Base trim level.

Do you mean fully loaded Z51 for around $72?

My 2008 CPE loaded was around $63K!

So, I see the C7 base price around mid 50's! Probably options will cost around 15k!!

I'm getting one!!

Your question is a bit misleading. A base car is not a fully optioned car. Your example of a "fully optioned car...base is 68K..." doesn't make much sense to me. If the base price of the car is 68K I won't be a buyer. If a fully optioned car is 68K, I might be.

I have a funny feeling this is going to be the price point since the last few model years of C6 people were grabbing up Grand Sports in this price range. I think GM is going to consider the Stingray as the new GS and that now as the base car. The Grand sport was nothing but a money maker for GM. Its really no different than the base coupe other than maybe $1,000 (cost for GM) in a few extra body part add ons.

why start a thread - way after it's been reported that GM themselves said the base would be "below $60k"

I am one of them - that was told directly by one of the GM people at the NAIAS. And when I looked surprised (thinking it was still too high $$$ for a base model)... the guy followed up saying "well below $60k".

What's next; a thread where someone asks if the C7 is going to be mid-engine ???

My guess is the Base C7 Coupe with a manual will be about $54,500. Add Z51 your at $57,800. Add the 3LT equivalent to about $64,500. Other options could easily add another $5,000+.

Mike, I believe you and I think what you were told will be true. But I still think an legit answer to the OP's question is worth answering, hypothetical as it may be.

At a starting price in the mid or upper $60s for a base car (David - he means not a GS, Z06, ZR1 etc), I would be done as a Corvette owner and the problem for GM is that an awful lot of other potential buyers would be signing up on the Mustang Forums (You could not give me a Camaro).

The cheap F---- will whine no matter what the price is. The rest of us won't & will be buying a C7, which just like the C6, will be a fabulous bang for the buck.

Uhhhh a base c7 at 72k is no longer a fabulous bang for the buck lol. At 50k and its the iphone 6.

Hey people think of it like this......if we can realize this car will sell at or more than GMs estimated sales number at a price of 50k don't you think they should know that? And if they don't what does that tell us about the makers of this car? Or at least the people who price it.

Food for though.

The MSRP of a "base" C7 i.e., LT1 will be between an LT1 GS and an LT1 C6. Add the options on from that price point. I would think an LT1 C7 Z51 w/ mag ride, exhaust, two tops, base wheels would price out between 62-64K.
