Default convertible features

I just watched the Sebring Seminar video. It was stated that all convertible tops are power, more aerodynamic, and require no manual latching/unlatching.
My favorite revelation was that the top can be operated with the key fob.

I think the top looks better/smoother too. And I have a C6 vert that I like very much.

You can also raise or lower the top at speeds up to 30 mph.

If my C5 had a power top (especially FOB activated), I would actually put the top up more often. I'm guilty of leaving the top down most of the summer.

Doesn't it need to be latched/unlatched from inside the car?

Not anymore. Apparently it has an electronic lock/unlock for the top. It makes me wonder if the coupe targa top unlocks with a button.

that fancier it gets, the heavier it gets and the more that can go wrong. My manual top is quick and easy and has only one electronic thing to it.

Why not have the best of both worlds though.

This is the best of both worlds. I have had at least 8 or 9 power tops since the C5 and never did one ever fail, nor do I expect the C7's to fail.

I imagine the electronically actuated latch is lighter than a manual latch (with a handle large enough to fit a hand) would be anyway.

Hopefully there will be a manual override just in case.

I had a Jaguar XK convertible with an electric top that did not require latching (electronic servos did everything). Very cool...

The only problem was that in the case of any battery or other electronic "issues", the top would pop open and freeze in the half up/down position, then have to be "reset" much like the indexing windows in the 'Vette. Worse the "reset" had to be done at the dealer. I very much hope the C7 vert is FAR less finicky...
