C7s Should Be Sold First to People Who Have Previously Purchased New Corvettes

Its a great idea if Chevrolet would make the 1st year Corvette available to past customers first. But, it wont happen. Chevrolet has told me before that the buying public is the dealers customer. The dealer is GM's customer ...

I had to sign a agreement with the dealer that if I sold my new model Ferrari (Newly Released Model) before first year I would have to split the profit with the dealer. When the Enzo came out some dealers were selling them at sticker and the new buyer would go and sell it for a 400-500K profit. The Ferrari company realized that this kind of contract would keep speculators out of true ownership. They also instituted mandatory lease to buy on special models so that the true Ferrari owners were the ones getting the cars vs. speculators. There will be some craziness on the C7 until the demand settles down, but I remember high prices for both the ZO6 and ZR1 when they both came out.
I was not aware of these particular business practices by Ferrari; thank you for the information.

Same stuff was said about C6 but it wasn't long before they hit msrp on the inevitable journey down and I'm expecting the same with C7. Invoice pricing may be a tough find before the year is out but I'll be surprised if it isn't attainable in 15.

I think they should offer the car to non-owners first to broaden the base. The faithful can get theirs in 2015

Regarding the OP statement, if anyone works at it enough, you'll eventually come up with some reason that makes you sooooo special....LOL

Dealers will sell to anybody that wants to spend the money. The first year C7 will be ripe for value added pricing where the dealers try to get more of your money for paint protection, inflated administration fees, etc. The dealers will also welcome previous C6 owners with open arms where they will discount your trade to a ridiculous price and make even more money. A fool and his money will always be parted. Never changes.

Same with the C5 , first local cars all sold for 75-125k for a 48k car March 1997. Those same cars are probably 10 k now.

Whoever bought a C5 for 75 to 125K was simply stunned. I expect dealers to not move off MSRP but there will be lots selling at that price. If someone really needs to own an early car then it shouldn't be difficult to find them at MSRP. If you buy over that then, IMO, you have more money than brain matter .

Viper is doing that per a local dodge salesman.
It would be good customer loyalty to offer a deal like that. But knowing gov motors,
it will be who waves the most money. They will let the dealers do as they like on

For the first 6-9 months only 25% of the US Chevy dealers will be selling the C7
The dealers who didn't make it can then buy the tools and send techs and salepeople to training. If they do this they can get a C7 after 9 months.
Is this right or wrong way to sell cars?
