We go to the 24hours of Daytona every year now it will be even better with the CR-7. The Corvette prototypes look and sound a lot better since they changed the design.

Hey, do you have any tips for a first-timer? I'm going down to the 24 Hours of Daytona and it will be my first 24 hour race. Where should I sit? Are the seats general admission like Road America?

I take my dad to Road America every year and he returns the favor with Indy 500 tickets, but my wife and I just bought a condo down in Florida just in time for the USCR, so I'm taking my dad down for next year's Daytona 24.

Funny that it has been joked by people in ALMS that Corvette wins so much they just decided to paint the car like the checkered flag and be done with it...haha....

I'm guessing it is the same width as the C6R or pretty darn close.

I've been going for well over 2 decades and live in the area but have been spoiled over the last 10 years since I take advantage of the Porsche Corral which is reserved parking trackside on the infield course. The first thing you want to do is purchase the 4 day package, it gets you into everything except the hot pits once the race starts. When you are buying these tickets make sure you add the infield parking pass to one of your tickets if more than one are going. Starting last year they limit infield parking and if you don't purchase your tickets NOW and add the parking you WILL NOT be able to drive into the track and that would be a travesty, it's the only way to experience the race.

I don't know if any corvette clubs do anything similar but I don't recall seeing any reserved parking last year.

A really good option is the spread and parking Grassroots Motorsports puts on but the parking portion is already sold out. http://grassrootsmotorsports.com/eve...ex-24-daytona/

Most of all, don't pick just one place and sit down. Walk around in the infield, sit in some of the bleachers spread around the track, stroll through the pits and get up close and personal with the race teams.

Oh, I almost forgot, get there early Saturday morning. No later than 10:00 or you may not find a decent place to park and even if you have a parking pass they sometimes close down the infield if the fire marshal gets a wild hair up his ***.

There USED to be plenty of parking in the infield but over the last 3 years the race has become so popular they have to limit it. Last year was the first year a separate parking pass was needed in addition to the 4 day pass and without that tag hanging in your window you don't get in. They also limit the number of passes so what happened to me and a number of others in 2011 and 2012 doesn't. We usually get there I. The morning on Saturday, stay until dinner time, go home, let the dog out and eat the drive back around 10:00 to,watch a few more hours. In both 2011 and 2012 they would not let us back me to the infield, they were shut down by the fire marshal. Last year, with the separate parking pass we were able to come and go as we pleased.

With AMLS combining with Grand-Am the event could be bigger than the 50th anniversary, which set records for attendance. Parking passes will go fast, if you don't order yours before the end of October you may be very disappointed.
