I think his final statement is the key statement. He believes it will "stand the test of time". I can honestly say that every model in the Corvette history has grown on me over time. Not one model is less appealing today than it was when I first saw it. The C5 and C2 are still my least favorites, and I'll take the keys any day before buying a Honda Accord or Toyota Camry.
The other way I interpret the statement is that only after significant time will anyone be able to say that it shares a 'timeless' design.
We'll never all agree, and that makes the world a far more interesting place.

I'm an old buzzard.....loved Corvettes for all 60 years.......and I simply love this new Corvette. I for one wanted the design pushed to a new level just like it was in '63. I love the past but I'm always looking forward and this new Stingray really does it for me. Thanks Corvette Team....you did one helluva of a job! My new C7 will be a Torch Red/Red interior Z51 Coupe.....with chrome wheels!

"In honor of jpee"
I'll wait to see it in person. Standing the test of time can't be predicted in advance, but one can hope for it.
It's a very busy rear end design, done on purpose. As to the design of the lights themselves, I see how and why they did it that way. I also believe, altho I don't know if it's true, that "they" probably tried many different designs of light shapes and chose or settled on this one.
As to the rear being identifiable as a Corvette, without the badge, I wouldn't know it. But some might.

I really liked the vid and also how the car looks in the dark with the lights on to me it totally changes the look of the taillights as far as the rim of led lights that reflect into the squarish lights I think it looks very good.
