I hope the C7Z comes with a removable roof
I get it, its more rigid without it. I get it.
But for me, half the fun of the car is cruising with the top off, and if the frame with the roof on is 50+% stiffer than the OLD Z06...cmon....
Anyways, Im making this post to see if its just me who feels this way. I have never bought a Z not because of financial reasons, but because I absolutely love the look of the hard top, but also enjoy the open cabin feeling on nice days.
(Dear GM, Please make at least one removable roof Z prototype and sell it to me )

Yes, please. With the advancements on the C7, they should be able to pull it off this time around. Want extreme stiffness? Do a cage. You don't need extreme stiffness for the street cruising.
The wide rear conversion I did on my base C6 costed way too much. I want the best of both worlds on the C7Z dammit.

YOU may not need the stiffness on the street, but the fact is the Corvette has to live in a competitive marketplace. If it isn't as stiff as possible, then the handling targets won't be met...plain and simple. Yes, compared to a Chevy Malibu, the Corvette could own it easily on the street with the roof chopped off...but vs a Porsche with no removable roof that's a different story.
The C7 has a removable roof though, so the debate is moot. In terms of C7Z though...that car is function followed by fashion. The buyers that want a C7Z for what the car is built to do, can do without the roof. If your buying a C7Z and it's a deal breaker without a removable top, then you're buying the C7Z for the wrong reasons.

No removable roof for the Z06! If you want a removable roof, get the base C7 or convertible.

I'm betting there will be a C7Z convertible. I think team Corvette got pretty beat up for not producing a hi-po C6 vert till the very end and they found that they were very popular.

The base model is 50+% stiffer than today's Z....There is a point of diminishing return in a car that has LEATHER HEATED SEATS, AIR CONDITIONING, NAV, ETC.... You're not Schumacher, you're driving the vette to its fullest potential at the track regardless of said roof.
All Im saying is it should be OPTIONAL.

Optional is great. Choices are a good thing.

Do you guys that want a hard top; want a C5 small glass hard top or do you like the standard C7 shape? I like the C7 as is, but I do like that the C5 Z stands out from the pack due to the top. I wish I had a good photo shop of the vert replacing the soft top with a small hard top to see what it would look like.
