Will the LT1 last throughout the C7's lifespan?
When the base C6 was released, it was released with the 400 horsepower LS2. It wasn't until 2008 I believe that they replaced the LS2 with the more powerful LS3. Do you guys think something like this may happen with the C7 stingray? That maybe the current LT1 they are planning on using won't actually remain in the base stingray throughout it's lifespan?

In the base model to replace the LT1? If the LT1 produces closer to 500 hp then 450hp, I feel like it may stick around. Pardon my ignorance, but what made them change the LS2 for the LS3 in the base Vette? Was the LS2 out already before the release of the C6? Sorry for the noob questions

The LS2 was in the Corvette for only 3 years, I don't think GM has the money or inclination to develop/test/certify a new engine that quickly now. Unless the replacement also produces much better mpg.

This makes sense. Hopefully they keep the LT1. If I buy this car and a year or two later they change the engine to a more powerful one, it'll drive me nuts

This is one of the reasons why I am shooting for a 2016-2017 model. Hoping to see what else they have in store for the C7 during it's run.

The C6 was a long run. A new motor was definitely going to happen. The LS2 was seemingly rushed out and only lasted 3 years. I think GM knew that the C6 was going to be a long run.
The C7 may not be that long of a run. I don't think it will see a motor change. Maybe a bump in power, but probably not a different engine code.

No. The LS2 was introduced with the C6 introduction which was MY2005. It replaced the LS1 as the base corvette engine. I don't claim to be an expert on the design differences between the various vette engines but I do recall that the LS2 used design improvements (intake??) that were first used on the LS6 C5Z06. Plus size was increased from 5.7L to 6.0L. I was frankly surprised that the LS3 was rolled out so fast to replace the LS2 after just 3 model years in the C6. If the C7 gen is meant to be a brief one to be replaced by a C8, then perhaps the LT1 will live on thru that span to the end.

Everything right now is just speculation. I think one of the members posted that GM is not in the financial position to be designing and testing new engines. Maybe in a couple of years after they see how well the sales are of the C7. it was in an earlier news release that Tadge (I believe) said that the high performance model would be a few years down the road if there even is one.
If they do (and I think they will and in reality they must) come out with a high performance model, I think you will see the LT4 or LT5. You may see both one as the Z06 replacement and the other as the ZR1 replacement. There is also the chance that they may not use either badge and have a high performance model with the L88. Remember they did claim the rights to that name.
