There's a reason why they say it's the best sports car for the money.
cheap harmonic balancers
rear ends requiring brand new clutch packs
faulty water pumps
427s with "dropping valves"
Flying "roof tops"

But being on other forums of the so-called "premium supercars," man, those guys have some issues too. Imagine spending over $225K for a Lambo that you can't park on a hill with "E-Gear," or a $160K Porsche with a faulty shaft or a 458 that goes up in flames? Yes, it could be worse.

If these sort of things worry you, then you can always settle for a "passenger vehicle."

Amen. Pre-production cars are notorious for bad panel gaps/etc. I've said it before, I'll say it again: You could give half the guys on this forum a 458...FOR FREE, and their reply would be: "RED?....I have to live with RED?"

My 05 C6 is put together a 1000 times better than my 03 350Z, both first year production cars.

The only gripe I have with the C6 relative to the 350 is steering feel. Besides steering, the C6 exceeds it.

I see your opinion.. But I would think more like a pig with lipstick.

I have a Mil Yellow '01 that is as good in fit and finish as any other car that I have ever seen. The '07 should be better in that they have built in methods of aligning components.

Funny thing is, I FIT just fine in my Vette, and every time I FINISH a drive in it I emerge with a huge grin. So, I certainly got the fit and finish I expected.

Seriously, though, I think if your car is used as a DD, and becomes a 10-footer after a few years, the minor panel gap and orange-peel issues don't matter as much. Key word is "minor," which is how I would describe the C6 and where I'd bet the average C7 will fall.

My '10 C6 is one of the best cars I've ever owned. Fit & finish just as good as my RX-8 and MazdaSpeed6 that were built in Japan. Anyone know of any 2 seat sports cars, with this much performance, in the $45-50K price range, that have better fit & finish?

I have noticed the same with my 93 RX7 compared to my Dad's C6 Z06.

Supposedly they spent a lot of time on this for the C7 to correct it. I hope they did so C&D can stop using it as a point deduction in the comparison tests.

I believe that the "fitment" issue in the photo is a matter of angular perspective rather than a bad gap issue. A perpendicular view would tell the tale.....
Here's another angle of the show car which I thought should have been nutin but impecible based on the level of scrutiny focused on the car.

I think you could find fly sh*t in pepper.. IMO you call them show cars but only because they show them, they are still Mules. Other people complain they can not get close enough..Doesn't matter they are still not production cars. I relate that to a beautiful woman. Why spend your time looking for flaws?

Those gaps would bother me if they were on my car, but I have to believe that they will be corrected before the car hits production. I have to!

The C-7 I saw at the Barrett Jackson looked great and certainly the paint job was way better than the factory paint. The car looked show quality, BTW Im changing my opinion on the roof line it's starting to look better to me than when I first saw it.

Agreed. Some love to complain and find fault with everything. It makes them feel better about themselves.

I paid 39k for my 2012 1LT. Harmonic balancer failed at 30 miles...good got that out of the way for awhile. Spent 4 hours aligning panels mostly rear hatch and hood. Have door to window trim coming loose and one corner of the front bumper at the head lights does not fit right.

Basically I got exactly what I expected. None of it bothers me at all. This is GM folks. They could not get a column lock right ever and even screwed up the bypass harnesses on the C5. Could not get a HB right on the C6 so who knows what they will never get right on the C7. And paint and body panel fit are what they are. It can all be adjusted and corrected.

I still love the car. It is what it is.

I find few flaws in my 2013, the build quality is actually very high. In BG watching C6's being built last year, there was much focus being shown to fit, finish & build quality, and specifically preventing inconsistent gaps like you show in the pre-production car. While they will wrestle with some issues learning to build the C7, I would expect high quality like my 2013 from production C7s fairly quickly.

Cheers,
JB
